You know what sucks? That those stupid, round hats teeny-boppers (New Kids on the Block, Tiffany, Debbie Gibson, Mayim Bialik and friends) wore in 1988 are now apparently back in style. We had such a hat in the late 80s, and to further accentuate our pubescent awkwardness we cut the top off so that our pony tail could sprout through, a wilted flower of hair spritzed to life with a bottle LA Looks hairspray that we kept in our Kaboodle. That hat was ugly then, and it’s even uglier now - so why then is Ashlee Simpson shoving one on top of her head?
Ashlee’s wannabe rocker chick style has never been our cup of tea, as it has always felt particularly inauthentic (especially when compared to that of her sister, who does the casual Texas lady look so well). But she’s pulled herself together lately in some cute Elvira-esque outfits, and we’ve made peace with her punk aesthetics. That is, until we saw her situated in the front row of her husband’s fashion show, doing her best goth Debbie Gibson impression. SO. NOT. OKAY.

Yesterday marked Pete Wentz‘ Fashion Week show for his clothing/design/publishing label, Clandestine Industries. Proving he’s not one to avoid theatrics, he took to the stage in a Hannibal Lecter-inspired straitjacket and…moving dolly? Hand truck? Whatever it is, he got wheeled in. The Fall Out Boy bassist’s clothing line is heavy on the printed-graphics and hoodies and is decidedly hipster (you don’t say!) and not at all what we’d assume Hannibal Lecter to wear while he’s lounging. The Great White Way welcomed Ashlee Simpson-Wentz to its ranks last night, with the “Pieces Of Me” star making her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart in Chicago (she previously performed the role on London’s West End three years ago). Naturally, sister Jessica, husband Pete and father Joe were there to cheer her on.
“Roxie was all Heart!” wrote Jessica on her Twitter. “Watching her up on that grandiose stage made me the proudest sister in the world. I love ya honey, I love ya!” Added Joe, “Papa is soooo proud…” Pete was a little more coy. “There’s an afterparty for everything. Sorry you can’t get in. Don’t worry they suck. You’re not missing out.” Maybe he didn’t want to gush in public.

For a second year in a row little Mrs. Russell Brand (AKA Katy Perry)hosted the 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards. Mega stars like Beyonce, theJonas Brothers, and Shakira attended the show but first rocked the red carpet in style.
Pete Wentz strutted down the carpet with one smokey eye (we’re sure there is a good reason for this…right?!) and David Hasselhoff seemed to have just staggered his way into the event (sporting sequins no less).

Pete Wentz may have a bizarre new tattoo, but at least he has proven to be a man of his word. According to a source, Ashlee Simpson’s husband “promised Cobra Starship frontman Gabe Saporta that if the first single from their sophomore release “HOT MESS” went to platinum, he would get a Cobra Starship related tattoo on his body to commemorate the achievement. When the single “Good Girls Gone Bad” far exceeded all expectations, Pete hit the tattoo parlor. The joke was on him though when Saporta wittingly chose an image of himself with the phrase “Gabey Baby Made Me Go Bad” to grace Wentz’s calve - a permanent reminder of Cobra Starship’s success and Gabe’s face.” Check out Pete’s new ink and other fabulous celebrity tattoos!
Pete Wentz, Ashlee Simpson, and baby Bronx Mowgli enjoy a family day on Saturday in Hollywood. It looks like we weren’t the only people who thought Pete Wentz looked silly at wife Ashlee’s birthday party this weekend. After declaring the “death of the emo haircut,” the Fall Out Boy bassist had his head shaved by Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus mid-set at Madison Square Garden last night. Wentz played it cool by pretending to sip from a cup through the shearing, but who drinks during a haircut? He was probably just trying to hide his tears.
After the show, Wentz twittered “jay-z had the death of autotune. this is the death of the emo swoosh” and posted before-and-after shots of his dome. Do you really think it’s gone for good (and for better)? Time will tell if other young rock stars follow his lead. After all, it’s not like Jay-Z’s gotten rid of autotune…
Ashlee and Jessica Simpson took enough time off from their busy filmingschedules to pose next to a precariously balanced cupcake tree at Ash’s 25th birthday in Vegas this weekend. While Jessica chose to hide her bikini behind flowing, see-through fabric, happily-married-to-a-toadstool Ashlee showed no such modesty.

When he’s not getting annoyed by paparazzi or having family day with Ashlee and Bronx, Pete Wentz has been cooking up his new comic book series with Image Comics, titled “Fall Out Toyworks.” Conceived by Wentz and famed designer Darren Romanelli, the comic follows the story of a brilliant young robot maker who risks his entire company for his factory’s newly produced android, “Tiffany Blews.” The five-issue comic book will be available September 2. If Ashlee Simpson was already one jealous wife, wait until she sees her husband with his arm around another blonde potential CW star. Pete Wentz accepted a “Voice Of Mental Health Award” at the 8th annual Jed Foundation Gala, which promotes a non-profit working to reduce suicide and stress among college students. Actress Brittany Snow hosted the event and posed with the Fall Out Boy bassist. Harmless, right?
But don’t forget, Snow’s proposed Gossip Girl spin-off, Valley Girls, was bumped off the CW Fall schedule in part by Melrose Place, which happens to feature Ashlee—though it may wind up a mid-season replacement. We’re sure the network would love it if these guys could work up some more off-screen drama. We’d love it too!
