Board Advisory Committee on Sustainability Performance

VANOC established a Board Advisory Committee on Sustainability Performance (BACSP) which held its first meeting June 13, 2007. The BACSP serves an important governance role in providing considered, third-party input on VANOC’s sustainability performance, with a view to making the most of the sustainability potential of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. All BACSP members are external to VANOC and are independent of VANOC’s Board. VANOC staff participates only on an ex officio basis. The BACSP meets formally twice a year. Members with specialized knowledge may be consulted between meetings.

In general, the purpose of the BACSP is:

  • to review and provide input on VANOC’s sustainability policy, and related commitments and performance in meeting its sustainability objectives
  • to report its findings, with recommendations, to the Sustainability and Human Resources Committee (S&HR Committee) of the VANOC Board of Directors

The overall objective is to provide considered third party input on VANOC’s sustainability performance with a view to making the most of the sustainability potential of the 2010 Games.
