Awareness and Education

The Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games will touch the lives of millions of people around the globe. Whether it’s the athletes and officials who participate in the Games, the employees and volunteers who make it all happen or the spectators around the world who share in the excitement, the Games are an opportunity for us all to showcase Canada’s very best – in sport, culture, business and innovation.

The Games are also an opportunity to celebrate Canada’s Aboriginal heritage and build understanding and awareness of the diverse cultures, traditions and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis.

Vancouver 2010 is working with colleagues and partners to identify opportunities for Aboriginal participation in the Games. We understand that identifying these opportunities is just the first step. This is why we’re also developing a communications strategy to reach out to Aboriginal people and provide them with access to the necessary tools and information get involved.

We’re also working closely with local and national Aboriginal, as well as the Aboriginal media, to help spread the word about the 2010 Winter Games and how everyone can get involved.
