Will there be additional charges on tickets?

A fulfillment fee is applicable to each ticket and covers the cost of implementing the ticketing program and ensures that ticketed spectators will have access to local public transit on the day of their event. The fee is consistent with the administration or handling fee charged for tickets to other comparable events. All ticket purchases will be charged a one-time secure Purolator delivery fee of $10 (for accounts of $100 or less) or $20 (for accounts greater than $100) on each account.

Note: travel from Vancouver to Whistler or Cypress Mountain is not included in the fulfillment fee and must be purchased separately. For more information please see the Fees and Transportation FAQs.

Why won’t my tickets be delivered until December 2009/January 2010 ?

Specific seat locations will then be assigned for all tickets purchased up until that point. Once specific seats have been assigned, the printing of tickets will then commence in preparation for their delivery in December 2009/January 2010.

How can I buy tickets for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games?

Tickets to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games will be sold in phases. Every step of the ticket program is designed to be simple, fair and accessible for any Canadian resident interested in attending the Games.

Phase 1: October 3 - December 22, 2008

Phase 1 of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games ticket program had four stages: Request Period, Lottery, Notification Period and Priority Access Period.

  • Request Period (October 3 – November 7, 2008): Canadian residents created a private and secure account at vancouver2010.com where they built an Olympic experience by searching for and selecting events or packages. The requests had to be submitted by November 7, 2008, the end of the request period, to be considered in the lottery.

  • Lottery (November 24 – 28, 2008): In cases where ticket demand exceeded the available supply, our official supplier of ticketing services, Tickets.com, used an automated random selection process (lottery) to ensure the fairest possible ticket distribution on a session-by-session basis (for example, each session you requested, if oversubscribed, was subject to a separate lottery).

  • Notification Period (By December 10, 2008): All applicants were notified via e-mail regarding the status of their request and which sessions and/or packages they secured. Seat locations will be confirmed in late 2009.

  • Priority Access Period (December 12–22, 2008): Any tickets not purchased during the initial Request Period were re-released for sale exclusively to Canadian residents who submitted a request during the Request Period. Tickets were available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Confirmation of your purchase was immediate and payment charged at that time.

Phase 2: June 6 - July 31, 2009
Remaining tickets were available for public sale at this time. Canadian residents who missed the initial request period could purchase tickets directly through vancouver2010.com or by calling the Vancouver 2010 Ticketing Call Centre at 1.800.TICKETS (1.800.842.5387).

Seat assignment period: Summer 2009
Ticket sales closed for a period of time once the venue seating configurations had been finalized. During this time, specific seat locations were assigned to all tickets purchased up to this point. Tickets purchased in Phase 1 were assigned seats prior to those purchased in Phase 2; however, seat locations were randomly assigned within each price category by the ticketing system. Tickets purchased at the same time were assigned together. For example, if you were allocated your request of four tickets to a women’s ice hockey game in Phase 1 then those four tickets were seated together during the seat assignment period. Later in the fall of 2009, ticket holders could log in to their online ticket accounts to view the specific seat locations that they have been assigned.

Phase 3: Began November 14, 2009
Ticket sales re-opened upon completion of the seat assignment period. Tickets purchased at this time were sold in real time, directly into available seat locations. Available tickets can be purchased through vancouver2010.com or by calling the Vancouver 2010 Ticketing Call Centre at 1.800.TICKETS (1.800.842.5387).

Phase 4: Games Time – February 12 – 28, 2010
All 2010 Olympic Winter Games venue box offices will open on the first day of competition at each venue. Please check the official competition schedule by sport for complete details. Main boxes offices in Whistler and downtown Vancouver opened in November 2009. Available tickets can also be purchased through vancouver2010.com or by calling the Vancouver 2010 Ticketing Call Centre at 1.800.TICKETS (1.800.842.5387).
