Aboriginal Participation

VANOC’s goal is to achieve unprecedented Aboriginal participation in the planning and hosting of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. We’ll do this by developing strong relationships with Aboriginal peoples – First Nations, Inuit and Métis – and the support of our Partners.

Paralympic Torch Relay

The 10-day, 2010 Paralympic Torch Relay will give many Canadians, young and old, a chance to discover the unique and inspiring stories of Paralympians and other Canadians who defy the odds. The 2010 Winter Games are Canada’s Games and the Paralympic Torch Relay is an important event to connect Canadians

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) was created on 23 June 1894; the 1st Olympic Games of the modern era opened in Athens on 6 April 1896; and the Olympic Movement has not stopped growing ever since.
