Northern Canada Tour

Trading in light jackets and loafers for down parkas and winter-worthy boots, members of VANOC’s executive and the Aboriginal participation and communications teams visited Northern Canada from January 8 to 12. The purpose: to extend the spirit of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games to citizens across the region.

Led by VANOC CEO John Furlong, the team included executive vice presidents Donna Wilson and David Guscott, Aboriginal Participation Specialist Lara Mussell Savage, and others.

Together they travelled to the Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, meeting with Canada Winter Games organizers, representatives of local and Territorial governments, school children and local First Nations and Inuit communities.

Our team’s mission is to engage all Canadians. From coast to coast to coast, we want everyone to think of the 2010 Winter Games as Canada’s Games. Read more about the Northern tour and its stops in Whitehorse, Yellowknife and Kugluktuk.
