2010 Olympic Winter Games Transportation Serving Squamish

 

The Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) and its transportation partners are pleased to release comprehensive information on transportation to Whistler for Squamish residents.

 

Squamish residents with tickets to Olympic competition events at Whistler Olympic Park

 

  • VANOC will provide a complimentary Whistler Olympic Park (WOP) shuttle (for Squamish residents and their guests only) departing from the Squamish Transit Exchange on Discovery Way (beside Walmart in the Squamish Business Park) directly to Whistler Olympic Park.
  • A day-of-event ticket, boarding pass decal and government-issued photo identification are required to board the shuttle.
  • The boarding pass decal is valid on the day of the Olympic event ticket only.
  • Boarding pass decals can be picked up at the Squamish Sea to Sky checkpoint permitting office (#2-40437 Tantalus Road) starting January 25. Proof of Squamish residency and your Olympic event ticket must be presented. For Squamish Sea to Sky checkpoint permit issuing office hours, please visit travelsmart2010.ca.
  • The boarding pass decal will display your assigned departure time for the WOP shuttle leaving from the Squamish Transit Exchange.

 

Squamish residents and their guests with tickets to Olympic events at The Whistler Sliding Centre (WSC), Whistler Creekside (WCR) and Whistler Medals Plaza (WCP)

 

  • BC Transit service is free on the day of your Olympic event. Show your event ticket when boarding the bus.
  • BC Transit service will run from 5:00 am to 2:00 am daily, connecting commuter service routes throughout Squamish to the Squamish Transit Exchange. Visit bctransit.com for more information.

•          From the Squamish Transit Exchange, take the BC Transit #98 Connector to Whistler. This bus will service all stops from Function Junction to Whistler Village.

•          For ticketed spectators on the #98 Connector, please note the following for your particular venue:

•          WCR: stops at Creekside and Highway 99

•          WSC: from the Whistler Gondola Transit Exchange, walk or take the Excalibur Gondola.

•          WCP: from the Whistler Gondola Transit Exchange, walk a short distance to the venue.

 

Squamish residents working in Whistler

  • BC Transit service will run from 6:00 am to 2:00 am daily, connecting commuter service routes throughout Squamish to the Squamish Transit Exchange. Visit bctransit.com for more information.

•          From the Squamish Transit Exchange, take the BC Transit #98 Connector to Whistler. This bus will service all stops from Function Junction to Whistler Village.

•          BC Transit is a fee-based service. Riders can either pay a per-use rate ($10 one way) or purchase a Feb 2010 BC Transit Souvenir Transit Pass ($95/month). Squamish residents working or volunteering for VANOC

•          A VANOC operated shuttle will be provided to Squamish-based VANOC workforce. Pre-booking is not required.

•          On Your Mark, ICE, workforce training sessions or your supervisor will provide up-to date details on where to catch your shuttle.

 

Remember to take transit early to ensure your arrival by the start of competition or your work shift.
