At the end of a highly successful week, Bbox Bouygues Telecom yet again showed they are a growing force in the Classics thanks to strong performances by Steve Chainel and William Bonnet in the Tour of Flanders. Chainel was prominent in the thick of the action for most of the day, while Bonnet contested the sprint for fifth place behind winner Fabian Cancellara and came home 10th.

Bbox Bouygues Telecom’s riders will head to the Tour of Flanders on April 4 with their confidence high after winning two stages at the Three Days of De Panne. Stage two winner Sébastien Turgot rode well in the closing time trial to finish eighth overall.

Colnago founder and managing director Ernesto Colnago sensationally revealed that the Italian bike manufacturer has spent the last few years working towards the production of a prototype of a flying bicycle that is partly based on drawings done by Leonardo Da Vinci in the 15th century.

Sébastien Turgot continued Bbox Bouygues Telecom’s great run of recent success when he won the second stage of the Three Day of De Panne in Belgium. Just a day after team-mate Steve Chainel rode the Colnago EPS to victory in Oudenaarde, 25-year-old Frenchman Turgot won a four-rider sprint in Sint Idesbald.

Bbox Bouygues Telecom’s Steve Chainel showed perfect timing when he won the first stage of the Three Days of De Panne in Oudenaarde. Just hours after a profile of the 26-year-old Frenchman had appeared on the Colnago Channel with a view towards Sunday’s prestigious Tour of Flanders, Chainel proved the quickest from a small group of riders who contested the sprint.

Bbox Bouygues Telecom have had a very impressive start to the season and now their Classics riders are hoping to build on that success when they go into the Tour of Flanders on Sunday (April 3). They have been boosted considerably by Pierrick Fédrigo’s victory in the Criterium International, and are looking to improve on the 11th place taken by Alexandre Pichot in Flanders last year.

The Criterium International was built up as the first meeting this season between Alberto Contador and Lance Armstrong, but in the end the headlines ended up going to Pierrick Fédrigo. The Bbox Bouygues Telecom rider took one of the best wins of his career when he successfully defended his lead in the final stage time trial in Porto Vecchio, Corsica, finishing 14 seconds clear of Michael Rogers, with Portugal’s Tiago Machado in third.

Colnago-CSF’s Domenico Pozzovivo leapt into the top 10 at the Settimana Coppi e Bartali stage race when he finished fourth on the third stage. Lying 25th overall after stage two, Pozzovivo climbed to 6th overall with two days of racing to go.
