Adopting the theme, Beyond received wisdom: New modes of organizing professionals and professional knowledge, the conference reviewed and updated some of the established models of professional behaviour and professional service firms. Professional services such as law, accounting, auditing, consulting, and advertising are among the fastest growing and most rapidly changing business sectors worldwide.
Nine sessions, each chaired by a leading expert in professional service firms, covered subjects as diverse as Structural Change and Individual Mobility (Chair, Candace Jones); Individual Identity (Chair, Tim Morris); Strategic Positioning (Chair, Huseyin Leblebici); and Reforming Fields (Chair: Laura Empson). The sessions featured papers delivered by academics from institutions including the University of Oxford, University of Alberta, University of Calgary, London Business School, Pennsylvania State University, University of Illinois, University of Cologne, and the European Business School.
