On 13 April 1970, America's third manned mission to the Moon was crippled by an explosion two days after take-off.
The world was gripped as Apollo 13's crew worked with Nasa scientists to find a way to get the craft safely back to Earth.
Mission commander Jim Lovell spoke to Pallab Ghosh about his memories of those anxious few days.
