Montrealer Carolle Brabant to run Telefilm Canada

Montrealer Carolle Brabant has been named the new executive director of Telefilm Canada.

Heritage Minister James Moore made the announcement of Brabant's appointment Tuesday in Ottawa.

Brabant, a 20-year veteran of Telefilm Canada, succeeds Wayne Clarkson, who completed his five-year term in January, at the helm of the federal film- and television-funding agency.

She is the first woman to head the Crown corporation, which was founded in 1967.
