Wednesday Finals: “CSI: NY” Dips Further + “South Park,” “In Plain Sight” and More

Posted on 08 April 2010 by Robert Seidman

south park was amazing wednesday. Glad to see it can still pull numbers.

I too think at least one has a good chance of moving, but I don't really see it helping SVU any. Unless GW stays on Tues evening, SVU would pretty much be going up against the same time of show on CBS, but a higher rated version.

I think CSI: NY's biggest problem is SVU. Before SVU was moved, it was doing fine. Of course, CSI: NY isn't doing SVU any favors either. I expect one of them to move next year, which will probably help both.

Setepember -> December: CSI Miami. 10 episodes, back to back, no repeats.
January -> March: CSI: NY. 10 episodes, back to back, no repeats.
March -> May: CSI. 10 episodes; back to back, no repeats.

Never, ever, ever, ever gonna happen!

CBS can get another season out of NY, two more out of Las Vegas and three or four more of Miami. Why would they do what you're suggesting? It's far less profitable and it would drag all the CSI's along for years and years and it's not like CBS has to worry about losing franchises: they've got NCIS's and Criminal Minds. The scheduling in America is pretty much clear cut as you can see and it's not going to change.

Who's Larry Fishbourne? Do you mean Laurence Fishburne?

CBS have got to do something about their CSI franchise because at this rate it's not going to be a franchise much longer.

Part of me says they should be happy that they've made what 24 seasons of television in 10 years and so are likely to have had some drop off, but as an avid watch of CSI (just Vegas, I dropped Miami years ago) I think it's on too much. This year they will have produced 72 episodes of essentially similar themes. It's time to take this to British scheduling and open up two slots to new programming.

Setepember -> December: CSI Miami. 10 episodes, back to back, no repeats.
January -> March: CSI: NY. 10 episodes, back to back, no repeats.
March -> May: CSI. 10 episodes; back to back, no repeats.

Last week of sweeps. Triple bill crossover.

This will keep Larry Fishbourne and Sinise and Caruso happy; let them do more movies and preserve CSI being special.

What a bad night for CBS 10pm shows as both The Good Wife and CSI NY hit series lows!
  • hordak228
Best episode of South Park in years! A must see for anyone that can't stand everyone's obsession with Facebook!
  • There Sundays must have been pretty low. Now that I would know... I didn't watch. lol
  • cimmer
I know no one else probably cares but Ugly Americans is just in free fall. Krod Mandoon had better numbers.
  • Tommy
CBS must be worried about CSI:NY, and if these ratings keeps up I wouldn't be shocked to see CBS cancel it. That of course will depend on what they think of their pilots, but with the lack of available timeslots on CBS it could be gone.
  • yankeesrj12
Depends. If you count the MRC shows that aired on Sundays last year, they were pretty dang low.
  • gamma626
Wow... it makes Psychs constant 1.0/1.3 look a lot better.

So what does this mean for CSI NY?
  • High Society (92% coverage)
    - 0.688 million viewers
    - 0.5/1 HH
    - 0.3/1 A18-49
    - 0.4/1 A18-34
    - 0.5/2 W18-34

Lowest ratings yet for a CW show?
  • katherine1978
Two weeks of In Plain Sight at a 0.9. Don't know if that is a good thing or not. I can't remember what the ratings were last season, but I do hope that the numbers will be enough or increase to ensure a season 4.

Good numbers for South Park. It was actually a good episode. I wish they still had Secret Girlfriend on after it though. That show was funny.
  • rob60990
YAY The Middle repeat went up. Wow the show repeats pretty good.

ANTM stayed the same while Fly Girls and High Society tanked. Good! :)

Wow, CSI:NY did bad. If it doesnt improve and fast CBS could cancel it. It got the same ratings as Cold Case.
