Pozzovivo wins on Colnago CX-1 at Trentino

Colnago-CSF Inox team leader Domenico Pozzovivo rode a Colnago CX-1 to victory on the final stage of the Giro del Trentino. The flyweight Italian attacked on the climb to the summit finish and could not be caught by the riders trying to chase behind.

Bbox aiming for Giro stage wins on Colnago EPS

The Colnago-backed Bbox Bouygues Telecom team has announced that it will be focusing on stage victories at next month’s Giro d’Italia. With that objective in mind, Bbox have picked a team that is packed with attack-minded riders and is led by Paris-Nice stage-winner William Bonnet and 2009 Tour de France stage-winner Thomas Voeckler.

French Gran Fondo Colnago a huge success

Just as was the case in San Diego in March, the Provençal town of Cogolin on the Gulf of St Tropez was swept by Gran Fondo Colnago fever on Sunday (April 18). More than a thousand riders enjoyed perfect conditions on what is regarded as one of the most beautiful cyclosportive courses in the world, many of them offering hugely positive feedback at the finish to event director Matteo Gerevini and his team.

Team Type 1’s Ilesic dominates sprint in Mexico

After three bunch sprint wins earlier in April at the Tour of Morocco, Team Type 1 sprinter Aldo Ino Ilesic has started the Tour of Mexico in the same impressive form. The Slovene hot shot dominated the opening sprint of the race in Veracruz, coming home several bike lengths clear of the chasing pack on his Colnago CX-1 to take the first leader’s jersey of the race.

The Landbouwkrediet-Colnago team more than justified the wild card invitation they had received to the Amstel Gold Race when Bert De Waele finished fourth in the biggest race of the season on the Dutch calendar. De Waele came onto the third and final climb of the Cauberg climb to the finish in Valkenburg with the main group of favourites and was the first to launch a solo attack towards the finish.

Voeckler goes close to victory again

Thomas Voeckler is still looking for his first victory on his Colnago EPS having yet again gone close at the Brabantse Pijl. Having already finished second on the final stage at Paris-Nice and third at the Tour of Sardinia, Voeckler had been hoping to continue Bbox Bouygues Telecom’s recent run of success during the Classics season, but ended up a strong but slightly frustrated sixth at the Brabantse Pijl.

Following the success of March’s first Gran Fondo Colnago of 2010 in San Diego, the series continues on Sunday, April 18 with the first running of the Gran Fondo Cogolin Golfe de Saint-Tropez. Based on the picturesque town of Cogolin, the three route options take in spectacular countryside on quiet roads just inland from Saint-Tropez’s famous seafront and beaches.
