Six EastEnders characters to be axed

Six 'EastEnders' characters are to be axed as part of a major revamp of the BBC soap.

Warning: spoiler alert!

Rick 'Minty' Peterson (actor Cliff Parisi), Charlie Slater (Derek Martin) and Libby Fox (Belinda Owusu) will all be leaving Albert Square.

Joining them in "exciting exits" will be Danny Mitchell (Liam Bergin), Adam Best (David Proud) and Liz Turner (Kate Williams).

A statement on the show's website read: "Details of exactly how the six characters will depart 'EastEnders' are under wraps, but we're sure they'll all have exciting exits - and hopefully a few happy endings."

A BBC spokesperson said: "It's sad to see characters leave the Square but obviously when a new executive producer like Bryan Kirkwood comes on board they're always keen to refresh the show and make some changes.

"It's the way soaps work, characters run their course and new characters come along."

Kirkwood joined 'EastEnders' last month having previously worked on ITV's 'Coronation Street' and Channel 4's 'Hollyoaks'.

Cemetery Junction

'Cemetery Junction' is one of those small films that many will watch again on TV - the laughs are good and what Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant say about growing up rings very true.
