April

Look for work by Ryan Martin at Visual Aid's 2010 Sprint Auction on April 22, 6-9 pm at Chronicle Books.

Davide Coltro is exhibiting a "System" at the Italian Cultural Institute as part of ".IT Itialian Art Today," a group exhibition of contemporary Italian artists, through May 31. Info here.

Jeremy Mora is featured in Beautiful Decay, Book 3: the Underdogs.

Alika Cooper is featured in a group exhibition titled "100 Records" at Gallery 16 here in SF, for which 100 artists made 45 rpm record covers for fictional bands and singers. Sonny Smith is then going to compose the songs for each record.

 

February

Embroidered works by Diem Chau are on view at the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art through April 3, part of the "By a Thread" exhibition. Similar works are on view at the gallery starting Feb. 4.

 

January

Jordan Eagles is featured in Re-Creation, the inaugural exhibition at the Ogilvy Chocolate Factory, Ogilvy & Mather Advertising's new gallery venture, in New York through March 31.

James Sansing's show "systemic obsolescence," the capstone of his 4-month artist-in-residence sojourn at the SF Recycling and Dispoal Center (aka the Dump) opens Friday September 25, 2009 from 5-9 pm. 503 Tunnel Ave., SF, CA 94135. More info here.

August

A review of "Unified Theory," last Spring's two-person show of work by James Sansing and Jerad Walker, appears on Art Beat Bay Area here.

We are pleased to report that an edition of Gao Yuan's "12 Moons" series has been acquired by the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum in Lisbon, Portugal.

Works by Danielle Giudici Wallis are on display at the Oakland City Center's Sculpture Court, 1111 Broadway in Oakland, through November 13.  The show is organized by the Oakland Museum of California .  A reception will take place August 20, 5-7 pm.  Danielle will also begin a 3-month residency at the Kala Institute in September.

June

Davide Coltro is exhibiting new work at the Palazzo della Ca' D'Oro in Venice, in conjunction with this year's Venice Biennale.

James Sansing is the current Artist in Residence at the San Francisco Recycling and Disposal center, aka, the San Francisco Dump. His residencey will culminate in a show in September, 2009.

Jordan Eagles is featured - with a decidedly dashing photo - in the current issue of Italian Men's Vogue, aka "L'Uomo Vogue." See it here.

Alika Cooper will exhibit at VOLTA5 in Basel, June 8-13, with Hamish Morrison Galerie, Berlin.

Diem Chau's carved cryaons are featured in a nationwide television ad for US Cellular. You can view it here. Diem also has work in a benefit auction for LA's MOCA. taking place May 9.

Wang Tiande is artist-in-residence at the Spencer Art Museum, Lawrence, KS. He is creating a piece using grazing sheep and goats. Info here.

We will be exhibiting at the NEXT Invitaitonal Exhibition of Emerging Art in Chicago, April 30 - May 4. The fair takes place at the Merchandise Mart in conjunction with Art Chicago. Visit us in Booth 7-8062.

Jud Bergeron is featured on the cover of the current edition of Sculptural Pursuit magazine. Inside is a feature and interview. Watch for Jud's show here this Fall.

The current exhibition, "A (re)Turn to (re)Form," featuringworks by Wang Tiande, Hong Lei, and Gao Yuan was featured on KQED-TV's "Gallery Crawl." You can view the video here.

Francesca Berrini and Diem Chau are featured in "Finds Refined," a group exhibition at the Museum of Northwest Art in La Conner, WA.

Davide Coltro's "Systems" are on display at the Concorso Museo Maxxi di Roma.

Jacob Tillman and Alika Cooper are doing a two-month residency in Caserta, near Rome, with Galeria Studio Legale.

Alika Cooper has three paintings featured in the 1/11/09 New York Times Sunday Magazine, accompanying an article by David Sanger on the nuclear threat frm Pakistan. You can read the article and view the works here.

Two gallery artists, Alika Cooper and Danielle Giudici Wallis, will exhibit work in the 75th Crocker-Kingsley Biennial of California art at the Crocker Art Museum, Sacramento, from  January 10 - February 6, 2009.  More info here .  Meanwhile, Alika also has a solo show up at Hamish Morrison Galerie, Berlin, through February 21.

We will be participating in the 14th Annual Los Angeles Art Show at the LA Convention Center, January 21 - 25, 2009.  The booth will feature a solo exhibition of new paintings by Jordan Eagles .  Jordan was recently profiled in the French art + design magazine "Digital Temple," which can be downloaded here .

 

2008
December

The citizens of Dublin, Ohio, have spoken, voting to acquire three works by Danielle Giudici Wallis for the town's civic art collection. Info here.

Alika Cooper has a solo show at Hamish Morrison Galerie, Berlin, through Feb. 21, 2009.

November

We are pleased to announce the arrival and availability of "12 Moons," a new photographic installation by Beijing-based Yuan Gao, which was recently on view at the Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art.

Gallery Director Mark Wolfe will moderate a panel discussion on art, architecture and technology at the M. H. de Young Museum on Nov. 11, 2008. Panelists include local architects Brett Terpeluk and Christopher Haas, who partnered with Renzo Piano and Herzong & DeMeuron, respectively, on the new Academy of Sciences and de Young Museum Buildings in Golden Gate Park.

Danielle Giudici Wallis is featured in "Park Fiction" an outdoor sculpture exhibition in Dublin, OH. More info and images here.

Jordan Eagles is featured in "Specimen: Representing the Natural World," a group exhibition at the Paul Robeson Galleries at Rutgers University through January, 2009. More info here.

 

October

Apparently dissatisfied with the quality of work exhibited at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the producers of the upcoming film "When in Rome," starring Kristen Bell and Anjelica Houston, acquired a large diptych from Jordan Eagles to hang in a scene shot at the museum. Reported here in the New York Post.

Alika Cooper is featured in "The Panorama Project 3," a group exhbition at the Jonathan Levine Gallery in New York, Sept. 6 through Oct. 4.

Yee Jan Bao has been awarded an Adoph & Esther Gottlieb Foundation grant for 2008-2009.

Alika Cooper is participating in a group exhibtion at the Cairo Collection, in Seattle, WA through Sept. 9.

Work by Kadie Salfi is included in shows at Cliff Lede Vineyards Gallery in Yountville, CA through September 10, and at the Milk & Honey Gallery in Mill Valley, CA through August 31.

May
New work by Dennis McNulty and Alika Cooper was featured in Southern Exposure's recent live auction to benefit its artist programs. Alika's work will also be auctioned later this month by Visual Aid this month, to benefit artists battling serious or terminal illnesses.

Diem Chau, who will exhibit here in November, was featured in this month's GenArt Pulse newsletter here.

Gallery artists Danielle Giudici Wallis, Randall Heath, and Jeremy Mora are fetured in a grup exhibtion titled "Art of Diorama" at the Bedford Gallery in Walnut Creek. The show was recently featured on KQED's "Gallery Crawl." Click here for the video.

Jeremy Mora has launched POVeditions, a fine art production and printing company and gallery in LA's Chinatown. A limited edition print by Alika Cooper was included in the inaugural run. More info here.

D3 Productions, Inc., producer of the Emmy-winning documentary "Sketching the Silk Road," filmed the finale of the forthcoming "Interpreting Ancient Fashion" here at the Gallery on March 6. The shoot featued local fashion designers Colleen Quen and Jude Gabbard, who presented works inspired by their recent sojourn in China's Guizhou Province. And a star sighting. The documentary will air on PBS stations in 2009. More info about the project here.

December

Jeremy Mora is featured in "There's No Place Like Here," a group exhibition at the Sonoma State University Art Gallery. Other artists include Todd Hido, Nina Katchadourian, Lordy Rodriquez, and Leslie Shows.

Davide Coltro has a solo show at Mandelli Arte Contemporanea in Milan.

Joe Mangrum is one of the artists featured in Art In Action, a new book from the Natural World Museum and United Nations Environment Programme showcasing artists and artwork addressing the environment and natural landscape. Other featured artists include Olafur Eliasson, Andy Goldsworthy, and Christo. Copies are available for purchase through the gallery.

Davide Coltro will be featured in the 2007 "Art of Digital" exhibition in San Diego, October 6 - November 11. Coltro's work was selected for inclusion in this juried exhibition of cotemporary art in digital media by SF MOMA Director Neal Benezra.

Alika Cooper will have a solo show at Galleria Studio Legale in Rome, opening September 27. This is her first European solo exhibition.
