East Area

East Area stretches from the Plain just east of Magdalen Bridge, along the Cowley and Iffley Roads to the western edge of Iffley and Cowley Marsh. On the northern edge of the area is South Park, and to the west the Thames including Astons Eyot and the Kidneys nature reserve.  The City wards that form the East Area include St Clement's Ward, St. Mary's Ward, and  Iffley Fields Ward.  

Public amenities include two community centres, two allotments, a skateboard park and games area, and river facilities at Donnington Bridge, including the Oxford City Rowing Club. The Cowley Road is well served with an interesting mix of shops, restaurants, music venues, a cinema and other businesses, and there is a mosque and new health centre in Manzil Way. A new farmers' market was launched in 2006 which operates every Saturday from the Asian Cultural Centre, also off Manzil Way.

Each year sees the annual East Oxford Carnival, the biggest open-air event in the City and a celebration of multi-culturalism in this vibrant part of the City.

The East area has a total population of 15,968 representing 12% of the total population of Oxford and comprises the following wards; Iffley Fields, St. Mary's, and St. Clements.
