First Posted: 04-26-10 04:17 PM   |   Updated: 04-27-10 12:55 PM

The world's smallest horse was born just days ago in the United States and he is gaining plenty of attention.

At just 6 pounds and 14 inches tall, "Einstein" is a half pinto stallion who was born April 22, 2010 in Barnstead, New Hampshire.

Breeder Judy Smith of Tiz A Miniature Horse Farm says, "I have been at this for 20 years plus but I have never seen one this tiny or even close to it."

There is a place in the East don't remember the state that is training these small horses to be leaders for the blind. Found it,

Albert would be proud - world's smallest horse named after him.

You can also find Newton - worlds smallest cow, and Hawking - worlds smallest giraffe - on the same farm...

There used to be pictures in National Geographic of some very small horse-looking animals that would fit into the palm of one's hand. Haven't seen any pictures of them since I was a youngster myself.

That is just unnatural.

And there is something misshapen about his head. It bulges too much above the eyes and is slightly assymetrical.

They really need to stop trying to breed smaller and smaller horses. Eventually they are going to be unhealthy like some of the pedigree dogs.

I was thinking that too. I mean, it's incredibly cute, but what is the fascination with trying to make animals smaller and more unnatural? "Miniature Horse Farm" actually says it all. it's like frankenhorse.

All Horses and dogs are already unhealthy. Every breed has it's own problems.

As long as he is healthy and he looks pretty perfect. Must have two for company, folks.

Adorable, but what are they for - people who can't import their own miniature, exotic and/or endangered species?

Go to the your local shelter, adopt a pet somebody has decided they don't need anymore....or maybe stand around and watch them get the air sucked out of their lungs or their hearts pierced with a needle - exciting stuff. Hey, how about those wild horse roundups where they just corral the horses and then let them die of thirst, fright or starvation?

Sorry, we don't need any more "breeders" of anything "special." When people get bored with their new "toys," they end up in horrible places, but that's okay because nobody has to see it, right?

It wasn't breed to be small it was just born that way.

Wrong. The Mom isn't a full size horse. She's some sort of small or minature. This one is just even more of a dwarf. Probably genetic defect.

Did you get up on the wrong side of the coffin this morning?

When I lived with my parents in the rural area between Gainesville and Newberry, Florida, the man who was at the time the world's record holder and largest breeder of miniature horses had his ranch a couple of miles down the road from our house. You could see the horses out grazing in the fields from the side of the State Road that ran by the property. from a distance they looked like medium to large dogs, but then every once in a while you could hear them whinny. It was very "Alice in Wonderland".

some miniature horses are used to guide the blind, and they fashion lil' sneakers for them.
