April 27, 2010 | Last Updated: 4/27/10 5:00 PM ET | Comments (6)

The Philadelphia Eagles today announced they have agreed to terms with the following three rookie free agents:

RB Keithon Flemming (5-10, 208) West Texas A&M
DE Eric Moncur (6-1, 237) Miami, FL
CB Devin Ross (5-10, 183) Arizona

Despite being sidelined for the first six games of the 2009 season due to a dislocated elbow, Flemming, a Mesquite, TX native, scored a team-high 16 TDs and averaged 134 all-purpose yards per game. He earned LSC South co-offensive back of the year honors. Over his career, he accounted for 4,008 all-purpose yards, including 12 100-yard rushing performances. He concluded his career sixth on the West Texas A&M career rushing chart, fifth on the receptions list and is second on the career scoring charts.

Moncur registered 110 tackles and eleven sacks in his career at Miami, posting a career-high and ranking second on the team with six sacks in 2007. He attended Carol City High School in Miami, FL, where he racked up 34 sacks in his final two seasons and earned SuperPrep All-America honors.

Ross garnered All-Pac 10 Conference honorable mention accolades as a senior in 2009 after recording 74 tackles, one interception and 11 pass deflections. He was a second-team All-Pac 10 selection as a junior in 2008 after recording a career-high three interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown. Ross earned first-team all-league as a senior defensive back at Rancho Cucamonga HS in Ontario, CA.

In addition, the Eagles claimed G Shawn Murphy off waivers from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 27-year-old Murphy was a 4th round draft choice of the Miami Dolphins in 2008. The 6-4, 315-pound lineman was claimed off waivers by the Buccaneers on October 21, 2009 after being released by Miami. Murphy, a native of Highland, Utah, was a two-year starter at Utah State. He is son of former Braves and Phillies All-Star outfielder Dale Murphy.

I like what the front office has done with the entire team. Knowing that DE is the hardest to draft due to the high bust rate I think they were smart drafting as many and even signing a few here and there. As far as the OL I want to reserve Judgement until TC. If Stacy is the player we thought we were going to get verse the bust we saw last year I think we may be ok. I think that We have enough Bodies (although not enough LT/RT's for my liking) to make competitions real and interesting. Overall this has been IMHO the best offseason we have had in a long time.

I agree with you guys, as matter of fact I've been saying this since draft day about how our FO is failing to address the team needs, especially with the O line. Yesterday, I read an article here about how the FO "believes" in the players we already have and that's the reason they chose not to address those positions. I'm relieved they have added more players to add competition to those positions. We're going to have to wait and see what type of talent they have in the players we have now.

I know that Dale Murphy's son Shawn was rated fairly high in the '08 draft. He has good size and he'll have good coaching with the Birds. Another OG to add to the mix. Devin Ross was a great ufa signing. The Sporting News Draft magazine had him rated as a 2nd rounder with big upside. Lindy's magazine had him rated in the 5th round. He has a chance to be a player and the Birds didn't have to use a draft pick to get him.

I agree that we've cut some huge contributors from the roster this offseason -- perhaps more than I can ever recall at once. So yes, we're putting a lot of faith on our young team and our recent acquisitions. Because of that, I'd rather have too many so that we can trim down our numbers and take the cream of the crop as the season approaches instead of not enough and find ourselves short handed.

Anyone think this is just a little too much? Were taking a little too much faith in this draft class? Zardas was injury plagued his whole career what makes them think he can contribute in the NFL? We now have what close to 10 DE's on the roster? And just as many RB's on the roster? We gotta cut at least half of them. I dont think this will fix our needs/issues. Of course i hope I'm wrong.
