  • Wow - The Hills and The City did surprisingly well.

I hope Justified has stabilized at a number good enough for renewal.
    I'm surprised 30 for 30 didn't do better.
Maybe they should move them back to Sunday or Saturday nights.

I agree Robert, only reason I'd watch that crap is if they told me the cast was going to all die in the next episode. That I'd watch.
  • Smoker4204
I am pretty sure they renewed it already like a couple of months ago.

"Also, isn't the Hills partially scripted? How can everyone key to a "storyline" randomly land at the same bar all the time in a city as big as theirs?"

I think I remember reading a article where one of the actors basically admitted to it being scripted somewhat without actually saying it. I channel surfed one day, and yes it does literally sound like they are paid actors reading from a script.

I guess The Hills took away that 750k viewers from L&O: CI.
  • AZ Bob
I agree with Julia on this. I think CI will probably be back. They can still tweak the series. Perhaps we have not seen the last of Eames and Goren. L&O brought back Noth several times over the years in various formats.
  • So, the show got 2.1 million viewers and that's considered a hit? Wow! I know NBC would love to be judged by those standards.
  • Well, you're way ahead of me. Until I saw this article I didn't know that either the Hills or the City existed. They certainly don't sound like I've missed anything.
  • I prefer Godblum in CI to the other actors.
  • Would someone please explain this to me?

Sure. Simple explanation: not everyone is you. In fact, nobody in the world but you is you. If it makes you feel any better, out of ~131.5 million adults 18-49, only about 2.1 million of them watched The Hills on Tuesday night, so in that respect you were more like the 129.4 million who didn't watch The Hills than the 2.1 million who did.

I'm sure Justified will stick around for at least one more season. Sons of Anarchy is the only real monster hit FX has now.
  • What is so interesting about the Hills and the City? I saw the Hills and it was just a bunch of stupid, rich kids with silly non-existent issues that any responsible person their age would not have. Would someone please explain this to me? I just don't get it. Also, isn't the Hills partially scripted? How can everyone key to a "storyline" randomly land at the same bar all the time in a city as big as theirs?

I like the name change: "CI = Criminal INSTINCT" LOL

    The Hills (10pm, 33 minutes)
    - 2.738 million viewers
    - 1.9/3 HH
    - 1.6/4 A18-49
    - 4.4/12 W18-34

    The City (10:33pm, 32 minutes)
    - 1.964 million viewers
    - 1.4/3 HH
    - 1.2/4 A18-49
    - 3.3/10 W18-34

So The Hills and The City pretty much perform better in the W18-34 demo than any show on The CW? The Secret Life on ABC Family seems to also.
  • Mokh5
The Hills is doing way better than any CW show among W 18-34.

As for L&O:CI, i hope it gets renewed. Unlike the CSI franchise, L&O managed to create spin offs that are actually really different from The Mothership.
  • I'm really hoping these numbers are good enough for a season 2 pickup for Justified. It's a fantastic show. Probably my new favorite of the season.
  • Empire
Even though the past couple of episodes of Justified haven't been that great, last nights episode, was a solid viewing almost as good as the premiere, although I am still on the fence with Justified, hopefully it can regain some of the viewers it has lost. With CI, USA most not be overly happy with the ratings, but I could see it getting at least one more season, still feel its too early to tell. Still have no clue why so many people watch the Hills, horrible show even for reality tv.
  • marcelrochester
Wow The Hills is surprisingly big; a 4.4 in young women? And The City got a 3.3 even with fewer than 2 million viewers. I thought they were in decline and heard they were cancelled...
  • Julia
I think it's really hard handicapping CI. The show makes big bank in syndication, but it's being syndicated on the network that is paying to produce the first run episodes. So it's hard to say. But I would guess it comes back.
  • 0megapart1cle
FX isn't ever really gangbusters in ratings, is it? I think Justified's ratings are probably high enough for FX's expectations, but who knows.
  • SJ
I know cable networks are harder to predict, but do you think CI is done for?

And Justified hasn't panned out to be such a great success it was pumped up to be at the start of the season. Could it still be enough for FX to renew?
