Yeah. This'll get done. Never.

New boats won't matter as much if they aren't made correctly. The Molinari class are all new and look how much trouble they've had. It's almost humbling to see the oldest boat, the Kennedy performing the best. I love that old warhorse. Even if they retired the Barberi and built a new boat, it'd likely be at the very least 5 years off. But with doomberg cutting everything blue collar people use, i don't see that happening.

Betcha he'll make us all swim to Manhattan now.

Some of these cars are held together with duct tape, have more scratches and stains on them then an entire Manhattan subway station, but yeah, "they'll be fine." I'm all for nostalgia, but only when it doesn't impede progress. That being said, it's the MTA, who is honestly surprised?

A number of reasons. The main being more people on S.I., eventually that will lead to more fires, thats just a way of life. There are also natural factors, lightning, etc. If you think it's bad now, wait a few years until Fresh Kills Park opens. The you'll see big ones. Then wait until the homeport is developed, that'll go up at some point. And the mayor will continue to close firehouses.

This isn't about Democrat vs. Republican, this is simply about 2 good guys in a pile of crap, doing whats right for a change.

Pave Forest Hill Road Next!

Forest Hill Rd. on the way to and from CSI. While they're at it, finish Rockland Ave.

1 out of every 6 houses huh? Got about 18 on my block...all of em have power, same on the block next to mine...and the block next to that...fact check much?

so the "newspaper" that panned it extensively now promotes it? Swing for the fences advance, swing for the fences.

This is news why...?

Way to drink the Kool-Aid Sal.

I'd be surprised if this went to the Intrepid, they're already trying for one of the Space Shuttles, and that alone will take up half a pier(at least with all surrounding facilities they plan to put in with it.) It's doubtful it'll go there. The Smithsonian is a safe bet, either that or the NY State museum.

Enough with this crass commercialism...name it something good, like Bobby Thompson Ballpark.

I was really hoping for the miracle outcome here. Rest easy son, rest easy.

Maybe they can do something about those electronic scrolling signs that show a scrambled mess instead of actual information...these buildings would be a joke of a renovation job if it didn't cost as much as it did.

Nice that the advance doesn't even give proper photo credit to Jan Somma-Hammel, who was the actual photographer.

Instead of a tanning tax can we call this an "oompa-loompa" tax since thats what they look like after going into one of those fluorescent coffins?

This is beyond idiotic, the Vulcans obviously know zero about the job they claim to care about. It should never, ever, ever be about race or gender, especially when it comes to a job that involves saving people's lives. IT should be about ability and knowledge, plain and simple. If you are legitimately qualified, and by that I mean mentally, emotionally and physically, then you should be hired. No more of this "who you know", "what skin color you are", "are you a guy or girl" nonsense. THE PEOPLE OF THIS CITY BEING RESCUED BY THE FDNY DO NOT CARE IF IT'S A BLACK, WHITE, HISPANIC, ASIAN, WOOKIE, MARTIAN OR TRANSVESTITE RESCUING THEM, ALL THEY CARE IS THAT THEY'RE BEING RESCUED!!! The sooner these moronic paper pushers realize this and drop their silly "crusade", the better off we'll all be. You know what happens when you force someone to do a job they really don't want to do? They do it poorly, and poorly just won't cut it with the FDNY. This is a job that is legendary and it is being ruined by desk jockey's and a mayor who for some reason has a grudge. Enough already!! Let these people do their jobs they way they should and stop the complaining!!

"lighing"?? Is the Advance down a copy editor?

Not a conflict of interest, they both took tests and passed.

Echoing FB28's statement, what can we do to help?

Typical lousy advance reporting. It was a little after midnight that this happened, not near 2am. I was there.

Thats quite a photo...who took that? Jan? Hilton?

Greg, what i'm saying is, when you have a mayor who clearly doesn't care about the will of the common people when it comes to voting, why should he care about them when it comes to their safety.

He didn't care about when he closed houses in 2003, he didn't care about when he reduced staffing on engine companies, he didn't care about it during the Destuche` Bank building debacle, which cost the lives of two city firefighters, he didn't care about it when he bowed to a justice department lawsuit threat in regards to the makeup of the FDNY.

Why is it that the NYPD gets everything they want in regards to technology and money, yet the FDNY is running around in equipment that is sometimes 15-20 years old. Even though the training given to the firefighters in this department is among the best in the world, that can only do so much when you are given antiquated-at best, tools to work with.

How is it that there is no money to keep firehouses open, yet somehow, theres money in the budget for needless things, such as waterfalls and stadiums?

Cliched as it may sound, you can only play with fire so many times till you get burned.

Thats becuase hes as blind as Magoo. He has done nothing but destory a once proud department. Cassano is nothing but a Yes man at this point. bloomturd has a serious grudge against the FDNY and it will continue to cost lives. And people voted for this jogoff in droves. Hope you all enjoy your loved ones dying at the hand of a billionaire. Harsh maybe, but it's true.

This is how we thank our vets? Really? In the grand scheme of things was this really that big of an issue? No. Give the guy his job back and worry about actual problems, like not slamming into the dock, removing smelly crazy people off the boat, etc..
