Anyone that plays, has interest in, or just enjoys reading materials about League of Legends.

The goal is to get more people playing and to help them enjoy a game that is easy to jump in and play, but very hard to master (anon gamers in game tend to be very visceral in their comments to new players, ignore them & play with fellow Redditors!).

Ashe is really simple to play, and if played correctly, can be one of the highest DPS on your team. Build her with damage and attack speed, lifesteal later on with some HP.

I build ashe with attack damage, cooldown reduction and mana regen, and just spam her aoe and ultimate. It's amazing for pushing.

Ebola1717 1 point2 points 19 days ago[-]

The first character I was pretty good at was Master Yi. He has ridiculous DPS, but make sure you take exhaust.

spundred 1 point2 points 20 days ago[-]

Best noob hero without a doubt is Tristana. She's got long range, good damage, 2 nice escape tools, and you can build her like a fighter to make her less squishy.

Start with lifesteal scepter, then her recommended boots and some + attack damage.

Then a malady, then infinity edge and frozen mallet. Any more room stack more attack damage and armor penetration.

Stand back and pwn people, and towers.

zerosp4c3 0 points1 point 17 days ago[-]

I actually unlocked Tristana first after playing around with many of the free heroes (for that week). Later I tried Ashe after getting to know the game much better and I have to say that Ashe's utility is much easier to fill for a noob that Trist.

The problem with Trist I find is fully maximizing her rocket jump (offensive and defensively) and using ult at the right time to either push enemies or last hit kills. With Ashe you pretty much just spam your ult arrow into team fights, or initiate from a distance, both much easier to handle than Trist.

spundred 0 points1 point 17 days ago[-]

The thing with trist is you don't need to get into the fight. At lvl 18 her passive means she can auto attack from a huge range. Get a frozen mallet and you can slow a group effectively by switching targets, or focus a target down who can't escape you.

zerosp4c3 0 points1 point 17 days ago* [-]

Ashe is even easier, with her first two skills she can get more done than Trist with phage or frozen mallet. True the range is an advantage, but I've found myself not seeing a huge difference in play given the different ranges. I'm not saying Trist isn't good, just not as easy as Ashe for starters.

Ashe's volley is also great for blind firing into a path to stop runners that normally only Trist would be able to accomplish by jumping in which can be bad.

I've just recently been starting to master landing Ashe's ult no matter the distance, when fired from your fountain and teleporting in, it's an amazing gank tool vs. solo lane farmers and the like. I just haven't been able to get the same kind of solo/group versatility with Trist that I have been with Ashe. As a noob playing Trist I often got caught in a bad position in fights being out to the side, or trying to ult people around, or just in general being too far away from the fight to hit the right people. Knowing when to stay behind things and when to go for their back line is a very difficult skill to learn.

your initial damage is way too low to make a vamp scepter useful

i prefer starting with rejuv bead + as many hp pots as possible (i do the same when i take mid)

malady is pointless on trist. if you need atk speed, you have your q for that. if you want lifesteal, get a starks (armor reduction!) or a bloodthirster (can get up to +100 dmg!) i find the passive to be pretty negligible.

for boots, get either tabi or treads.. i usually rock treads

spundred 0 points1 point 18 days ago[-]

True, but early on you have a small health pool and are taking little damage so it's workable, plus it builds into whatever lifesteal item you may want later on.

Now that I think about it, Starks does seem like the better option though.

Ashe/Teemo - berserker boots, malady, more attack speed Nunu - boots of mobility and zhonyas ring katarina - berserker boots, the 1337 item (cant remember name), frozen mallet thing, malady Shen - first recommend item (its a shield),Ninja Boots, frozen mallet thing

Can't go wrong with the above combos. Just don't run into the enemy and don't die

so_close 2 points3 points 20 days ago[-]

I'd suggest against Teemo for 2 reasons: one is price and two is his squishiness. It's quite easy to get crazy kills with Teemo but you have to know how to play him at least a little bit to not fall into the trap of dying constantly. I second the tristana suggestion and furthermore suggest Ashe. With a fast ulti cooldown and a decent slow (and money making skill), its hard to go too wrong with Ashe.

zerosp4c3 0 points1 point 17 days ago[-]

I've been playing Teemo with the free champs thing, so far I like him, definitely advise against starting with him. You really need to coordinate well with your team until you can carry, and setting up traps in the right places for ambush or as free vision points is important.

Played badly he just gets squished or is a slight annoyance with his blind.

optimism 0 points1 point 19 days ago[-]

Katarina berserkers?

All of her abilities do magic damage. If you're not getting swiftness or mobility, sorcerers is the way to go. And Kat is in no way a noob friendly hero. Her ult makes her extremely exposed. Mastering that takes some time.

Rabidsheep 0 points1 point 19 days ago[-]

Ashe, Teemo is great anti-dps, but as you get higher and less and less DPS is found, he becomes less useful.

instant_noodles 1 point2 points 20 days ago[-]

Do you have a preference in class types? tank/dps (big damage output), nukers etc. If you don't mind playing in high level games, feel free to add me on the chat-list. "Darva", although most likely I would play practice games with you :P

leeharris100 [S] 1 point2 points 20 days ago[-]

I typically either like support or nukers!

instant_noodles 2 points3 points 20 days ago[-]

I'm not sure how much ip it costs but I'd suggest Zilean. He has a target haste/slow depending on if you focus self/allies or enemies, an aoe nuke that can easily do 700damage, a refresh so realistically you can haste self, nuke a guy (or guys as its aoe) for 1400-1600, and a target ult that revives. Played well, its one of the most annoying harass chars early on and the ult is great for keeping yourself and others alive. Just remember to spam your refresh so your ult is good to go for every big fight.

randomprofanity 0 points1 point 19 days ago[-]

I second Zilean. He was the first caster I unlocked, and by far the most fun (though I have yet to try Karthus).

Ozymandyus 1 point2 points 19 days ago[-]

Ryze. He has a ton of HP for a mage and you can solo anybody else in the game, even if you're underleveled and they're a tank.

Icedawg004 0 points1 point 19 days ago[-]

Who have you had the most fun, and success with that fit into these roles. If you have someone you had fun playing. Just save up and buy that character.

ApplesFromKira 0 points1 point 16 days ago[-]

Annie imo, it's a kill every 5 casts, and its easy to last shot, giving you time to improve on your game mechanics.

VoodooPygmy 0 points1 point 17 days ago[-]

If u make it to 3k, get Jax. He is the ultimate noob friendly hero. U can win about any fight 1v1 after u get his ult with pretty much just right clicking. I constantly see posts in the forums of people trying him for the 1st time and goin 13/1/4 etc.

ironicninja 0 points1 point 20 days ago[-]

I recommend Alistar. He is 1350 RP and nearly impossible to kill. here is a guide I wrote

I win 2 of 3 solo queue with him, and 8 of 10 with him in premades. Just perfect the stun and punt back. too bad they nerfed it :(

PKSkriBBLeS -1 points0 points 17 days ago[-]

I really liked Blitzcrank at a lower level - his grab might seem confusing at first, but after a game or 2 you should be pretty decent, especially since you are probably lower level, and matchmaking has a good chance of matching u against noobs that don't know how to dodge it.

Alot of people might disagree, and say he's a more difficult champion, but here's some of the reasons why he's pretty easy.

  1. If your getting pushed hardcore in your lane, you can tower hug, and if anyone gets close you pull them, and then throw them up in the air.

  2. Hes got an ability that makes him run faster(and give attack speed) so you can run away from a gank.

  3. When you get really low on life, he pops a shield that absorbs damage and removes negative buffs. And then use your speed buff as mentioned in point 2.

  4. He's got a good amount of health, so you aren't the first person targetted in team fights.
