Echo Chamber: Kathleen Hanna

Echo Chamber: Kathleen Hanna

"Kristen Stewart seriously deserves an Academy Award for her performance as Joan Jett. Not to brag, but I know Joan and was really worried that she would be portrayed as a boring hetero tomboy in the sick new tradition of 'girls kick ass' flicks, but Stewart portrayed her as a sexy, complicated butch who was born to rock."

-- Bikini Kill/Le Tigre leader Kathleen Hanna-- who knows a thing or two about women who rock-- really liked The Runaways. (A lot.) The Oscar campaign starts here. (via Kathleen's Blog)

More Details on the Le Tigre/Christina Aguilera Collaboration Revealed

"Curling up in sweatpants, puzzling over lyrics, and checking her Blackberry while the beat loops forever...hey, Christina is just like us after all!" More Details on the Le Tigre/Christina Aguilera Collaboration Revealed

After much speculation, Le Tigre are finally speaking about their collaboration with pop star extraordinaire Christina Aguilera. Though there's still a possibility that the "couple of songs" Le Tigre made with Xtina won't make the belter's forthcoming album-- dubbed Bionic and reportedly due in April-- Le Tigre member Johanna Fateman had lots of positive things to say about the unlikely pairing in a recent blog post. "For a feminist band obsessed with pop music, it was pretty much a dream come true," she wrote.

Le Tigre Working With Christina Aguilera

No, they haven't broken up. Le Tigre Working With Christina Aguilera

It's been nearly five years since Le Tigre released their last album, the thoroughly meh This Island. And since they finished touring on that record, there's been precious little news from the New York electro-punk trio. Kathleen Hanna spent some time teaching. JD Samson has been DJing and playing live with a new band called MEN, which also includes Le Tigre bandmate Johanna Fateman. Though they insisted they were on an "extended break," we pretty much assumed that Le Tigre had broken up.

So it's a happy surprise to learn that not only do Le Tigre still exist, but they're in the studio working with one of the biggest pop stars on Planet Earth.
