Broadcast Finals Tuesday: Idol, Lost, 90210 Adjusted Up; Good Wife, V, Parenthood Adjusted Down

American Idol was adjusted up 0.2 adults 18-49 ratings points in the final ratings, while Lost was adjusted up a tenth. The Good Wife, V & Parenthood were adjusted down a tenth. 90210 gained a tenth of a point in the CW target women 18-34 demo. All the other broadcast final ratings for Tuesday are below.

    I watch NBC the most out of every big 4 network. (Which in a way is sad...) I saw a lot of Chuck ads in December. I saw a lot of Parenthood ads as well. They were promoted enough compared to Trauma, Mercy, Community, Parks and Rec, The Office, etc...

    Do you have Chuck's M18-49 to compare? Not that it matters, because advertising is not sold on M18-49. It is sold on A18-49, where Parenthood is doing fine for itself, while Chuck is (and has been for the past three years) floundering.
  • Put Parenthood in Chucks timeslot and it would be dead or at best, about the same. Chuck was pulling 2.3-2.5 demos and simular viewers #'s until DST hit, which affects 8pm shows hardest and 10pm hardly at all. (Since DST this season all shows on all networks in that slot have remained down) Chuck has no big lead-in help that Parenthood gets from Biggest Loser.Parenthood has to one less network show to with as FOX does local news.Parenthood has only competition from the The Good Wife and V, while Chuck has big shows like House,HIMYM and Bachelor/DWTS(ABC) Chuck has been operating with a reduced budget while Parenthood gets it poured on by its parent NBC company so they can claim a success...as modest as it is anyway.Chuck plays against the first string teams and Parenthood is the king of the Powderpuff league. Otherwise they are like twins when you compare them right?
  • Both are not heavily promoted.

    Chuck is only promoted on Sunday once during The Apprentice and once the hour right before it airs on Monday. While Parenthood is promoted in every other NBC national commercial since the Olympics.

    If you watch NBC you could easily tell the pattern.

    It doesn't really matter in the end, Parenthood got a 2.5, Chuck got a 1.9, Adults 18-49 Both were heavily promoted, and both disappointed, but Parenthood has decent ratings while Chuck is trying to survive.

    Plus, don't more women watch more TV then men anyway?

    Like I said, when you get 1.7/5 on 18-49 male demos with endless promotion on NBC against only 2 network shows since the Olympics, it's a colossal waste.

    You can't spin that.

    Where do you see Parenthood's M18-49 demo?

    And I'd have to agree with Julia's response. I watched Parenthood's initial episode, and while I appreciated the fact that it was trying hard to be a high quality show, I thought that it rarely succeeded. Combined with it's endless advertising, I was quite hoping that the show would fail. But all of the numbers here have indicated that it seems to be doing okay for itself. It certainly makes no sense to me to try to tear Parenthood down in order to build up Chuck, if that is indeed part of your motivation (I don't know?).
  • Holly & Julia: Parenthood's male 18-49 demos was 1.7/5 against 2 shows, you can't spin that.

    It's V's best performance in three weeks. I still think it's canceled, but if ABC is doing a "save our face" campaign, V is the No.1 candidate for renewal.

    But if Joe insults Parenthood's 2.5 enough, maybe it will make Chuck's 1.9 look better?

    Eh? I'm not a fan of Parenthood, and hoped it would crash and burn for many reasons, but it's a modest success for NBC. And a modest success for NBC means it's a huge success for NBC. ;) And it's certainly not free-falling. It's not falling at all.

    Do people think there is any chance that the penultimate episode of Lost gets a higher A18-49 rating than the episode of Glee that airs that night? I know it doesn't matter for any real reason, just curious if people are expecting an increase for that episode or if the increase will be reserved for the finale. Also curious if people think the (gradual) decline for Glee is going to continue?

    Where do you see a 1.7? On top of The Good Wife and V, it has Justified and L&O: CI competing against it. The Good Wife especially seems to take a considerable chunk out of Parenthood's ratings. Which is odd, because TGW skews like thrice as old.
  • Parenthood getting 1.7/5 demos at the easiest timeslot on NBC's schedule. Talk about a colossal waste of money (Olympics and after) with promotion.

    Looks like Lost is probably the top drama of the week, edging out House this time.

    Idol adjusted up, but Glee’s still stable and beats Idol in young adults.

    Parenthood continues to win its timeslot, up from last week.

    90210 lost a large amount of viewers in the finals, and yet it wasn't preempted? It also looks like 90210's W18-34 went up slightly in the finals too. It's still very low. I wonder if this show will be able to recover in the fall.

    "V" again with the lowest among the four big networks in overall viewers and 18-49 demo (though, it's tops in the men 18-49 demo at 10 p.m.). Overall viewers may not mean as much as the demo, but I wish its overall numbers were higher than where they've been the last few weeks. The last episode it aired back in November held up well compared to the third episode- again, we have no way of knowing ifit would have held up well had it stayed on the air, or if it would have continued dropping (a la FlashForward). That's why ABC should give it a reprieve and try airing it consecutively in the fall, relaunch it, pull out the stops, like it did when it premiered- put it on at 8 .m. Thursdays. Not like it can do much worse than FF did right?

    Once again Glee builds on the lead-in in 18-34! Sure, it was down, but not as much as Idol was, so still excellent nevertheless. Very questionable about V though; lost almost half of Lost's audience.
