Manager Simon Grayson believes winger Max Gradel will learn from his dismissal in the 2-1 win over Bristol Rovers which saw Leeds promoted.
Grayson suffered the agony of seeing Gradel sent off for a 33rd-minute clash with Rovers defender Daniel Jones, who was booed by the Elland Road faithful for the rest of the game.
Rovers also seized the lead two minutes after the break with a goal from Darryl Duffy, but substitute Jonny Howson and stand-in captain Jermaine Beckford scored the goals that sent Leeds up.
Grayson said: "I am still not sure why he was sent off. He is a very pumped up and enthusiastic individual and he was very disappointed to be sent off, but the referee wasn't going to change his mind.
"Max will learn from it. He was probably more relieved than anyone that we won because he probably felt he had let the team down."
