FunFile Down, Should Return Soon
March 10, 09 by sharky 11,151 viewsPending the recent news, it appears that FunFile has recently purchased a new server. They had to wait to load the remote backup because the person who’s server it was on went to bed. As such, the site *should* be fully restored today.
As you are no doubt aware we are now back online, It was about 12AM and I got a notice that FunFile had suffered an unknown failure. Long story short we called SoftLayer and determined that the RAID controller for the box had ‘broken’ and couldn’t see half the devices on the array. After spending half the day trying to recover the data from the array, we wrote it off as a lost cause since repairing the inodes one at a time would have taken literally days of mind numbing work. Attemping to find the Silver Lining we decided to use this as a chance to rework FunFiles hardware and streamline it as much as possible, as well as trying to get as much speed as possible to reduce load times ect..

I’m not at all surprised. I bought into the CDN back before it was 6 months overdue, and ever since l0ck kept putting it off, I knew he would soon take the money and run. He was trying to tell everybody that the server bill was $2500/mo… and this month there were about $1500 donated as shown on the recently-upgraded donation meter. $2500/mo! What a load of bullshit.

Think it was last week l0ckd0wn said the site needed $200 then a day or two latter he said it needed much more. Then there was the issue where there was a server “upgrade” that messed up and people lost two weeks of stats. To make matters worse they lost all their credits. It didn’t matter how long you had saved them either. You could have had them months but they were all gone. Then there was the issue where Coolz one a computer from FF and l0ckd0wn never sent it. And we can’t forget the whole CDN, issue. Anyone that has been around for a while seen all that has gone on and more than likely not in a mood to donate because of a number of things that went down.

thats is a shame.. awesome website.. got all my tv shows from there.. its gonna be though finding alternatives as good. the CDN thing was a big disappointment.. im glad i didnt buyin to their life time VIP hit and run protection for 100$… donated 10$ back in 06 and i think i got the service i wanted. Let me just say, I was angry as shit, FunFilers (especially me, because I am me) are prone to jumping to conclusions, people think it, I speak what I think, that is what gets me in shit.
If it were the case that FunFile was closing because of donations, and if that were proven, then yeah, I would have a right to speak about that.

This newspost is completely incorrect. FunFile has not been shut down but it is being upgraded to include SSL in both the tracker and embedded in torrents, this will take some time to fix as the backend code is being upgraded as well hopefully to help reduce discrepencies in stats when seeding back etc which the tracker sometimes had. l0ckd0wn no longer runs FF and has handed it over to pb1dft who also codes for PTM and has recently added SSL to their site too. FF will be back soon. No doubt.

Yes, it is correct the RAID array died and caused the server to not boot and hence FF going down, I thought it was linked to the SSL upgrades. Either way, FF is not down intentionally like retards like sharky on here assume to get more hits on FSF. It’s being worked on non-stop and will be back up and live asap.

Funfile is just one big scam. Anyone who has donated in the last year or two, is a complete chumpy idiot.
They consistently lie about the donations, and they spam you at least once a month, BEGGING for donations. They also THREATEN to close the site down if people don’t donate. So all the chumps throw their money at the site, month after month, and yet it doesn’t provide anything better than sites with barely any users.
I would be sad to see it go because I have an enormous ratio there and I always use it, but at the same time, I would be glad to know that some bastard isn’t making $$$$ off simple minded idiots for something which is illegal to begin with. I much prefer PreToMe which was made by the staff who left FF, probably because they saw what a scam it was. Funfile management are all beggars, I’m sick and tired of hearing them begging for money 24/7. Seriously, it is really bad. If you can’t afford to run the damn site, close it but have some Goddamn self respect. Every week my inbox has a PM begging me for money and promising specials which btw aren’t worth shit. If you donate a 100 USD we’ll give you 1000 credits which we’ll wipe away asap. I had over 5000 cr and suddenly all were wiped down to zero. I also got banned from the site for a week for no reason, apparently I had DHT turned on in my utorrent. WTF do I know about DHT, I’m a tech noob ! I joined Funfile in mid 2007, and have been a member of many other sites before and during this time and Funfile has been and will continue to be, the best site by far that I have been a member of [once it's back up and running lol ] . The community spirit of Funfile is excellent, the members are friendly and helpful [ well most of them lol ] . The download speeds are excellent, I regularly get anywhere from 700MB - 1.4GB files in under 15 minutes, sometimes even in 5 minutes. I have never had a trojan, virus or fake file from this site unlike many others that I have used. The guides section in the forums is exceptional and even a complete novice would be hard pushed not to be able to follow the instructions relating to applications etc, a hell of a lot of time and hardwork has gone into making Funfile the exceptional site that it has been, and I would like to say a big THANKYOU to everyone,staff and members for everything that they have done. Funfile has brightened up my day many a time. Thanks again fellow Funfilers.

4 YEARS ago ZCCUSTOMS which was owned by ZEROCOOL - AKA Lockdown was taken down by angry sysops and staff who got sick off Zero- aka LOCKDOWN ripping off its members.
