Frylock (co-sysop of Etiv.in) Busted for Pot Possession?

Looking at the calendar, April 1st has come and passed. Interpret the information below however you see fit. FSF received an alarming email tonight, purportedly from the wife of Frylock, "Elizabeth". In it, she explains that Frylock (Etiv.in’s co-sysop & founder) has been arrested in California on a serious drug charge related to marijuana possession. Evidence on Etiv’s forums seem to support this - but hey, look at the bright side - at least it’s not a kiddie porn bust.
The unedited email I received on 4/16/2010 at 5:57PM (EDT):
Hello Sharky,
My husband frylock is in jail and asked me to relay a message to you. He is sorry that he has been out of contact but is in jail. You can read about it at Etiv in the news section. He seemed very upset about leaving you hanging.

Wow, that’s crazy info! Crazy, as in ‘not good’.
I thank you for the correspondence, much appreciated. Nevermind him being upset with leaving me hanging; he’s got bigger issues to be concerned about. BitTorrent is such a small thing that people take way too seriously.
When did all this happen? I haven’t heard back from him in at least two weeks, and he’s not one to disappear unexpectedly like this.
I wish you both the best, you’ll both get through this. Definitely keep the line open to me.

The mighty Frylock has run aground with California law and I am currently sitting in County jail on a charge related to marijuana. It seems the police around here don’t take to kindly to good citizens having a pound of weed stashed (allegedly) in the back seat. Shit happens I guess.
Worse case scenario I will be away for about a year but with some LUCK I will be out in about a month. It all depends on how hardcore the DA wants to be with me. I’m sorry to leave you all hanging for so long about whats going on but it is hard to comunciate via a jail cell. I have my wife and the almighty MastaShake to thank for the little communication I do have.
The bastards have set my bail at 50k and the bail bondsmen around here charge 10% and 5k is no joke to my family so I;m prob gona sit here till my trial at the end of the month. Lucky for Etiv my position as Co-Sysop is more political than practical…If Shake where ever to get locked up we’d be in REAL trouble as he is the real work horse of Etiv.

Loyal fans (and staff) of Etiv already know that Frylock has been AWOL lately. It’s no secret that he’s been completely absent from the forums for more than two weeks now, and the last time he joined Etiv on IRC was 11 days ago (according to logs). In fact, Frylock and I (Sharky) were in negotiations towards a new FSF article for Etiv.in which was tentatively scheduled for publication on April 2nd. This is uncharacteristic behavior for Frylock to not respond to my emails, and thus the post was never published at FSF.
I doubt that this will turn out to be some elaborate hoax to promote Etiv, since FSF already agreed to publish an article well in advance of this news. We’ll keep you updated.

weed is pretty much legal in CA. u can get a card at any dispensary and they sell it freely and if you are caught with it, just show the card. also, i’ve been busted for weed before it was legal, and u didn’t go to jail. you just got a smoking ticket.

sorry but i dont understand why we need to hear this. All sorts of members in the bt world probably go to jail or die or whatever but we don’t post about it. The most ironic thing about this situation is the fact that all private torrent sites have a script that will auto delete his account if he doesn’t login within a certain amount of days.
I don’t know how many private trackers he’s a member of, but I just hope that he has a friend that can invite him back to those sites once he gets out of jail.
But if his friends go to jail too, then ummm…………… I guess he’s S.O.L.

FryLock was one of ETiV staff who coordinated with FILEnetworks once we did an article for ETiV. He was a nice guy and I hope he manages to get past this difficult stage quickly.

I made bail lastnite. Had to bite the bullet and make a deal with the modern day loan sharks at the title loan office for the last 2 grand. Fuckers charge 150% APR and then hit you with “processing fees”. They aren’t fucking around in the least either, they kept my spare set of keys. I was really suprised to see this at the top of FSF with the haters and homies both saying their piece. I apperciate all the comments made, yes even you anonymous ass rape guy.
Its not over yet though. I have trial at the end of May and if it goes bad I’ll be away for a few years. With some luck I’ll cop a deal with the DA before that and be out in mere months.
My intention was not to create a spectacle of myself. Sharky is a friend and business contact. It would have been rude to leave him hanging. Gota love the haters though and they never disappoint. If I won a nobel prize they’d be there talking about how I’m a looser. The shit in the comments about this all being a publicity stunt and if It wasn’t then I got what I deserved was grade A material. The bit about ass rape was my favortie. XD I love the haters. @frylock where abouts in CA did this happen? I have been in trouble with the law before in San Diego and Santa Barbara and my advice to you is to get a lawyer. Pubic pretenders (public defenders) don’t give a shit so they don’t try and get the charge dropped, they just want to avoid trial so they will give you a few options. Also, before you see a judge go to a few NA classes or some other drug class. Its a waste of time and it sucks but it will show the judge that you are trying to change and it may help. It could be worse.. my buddy is in federal for 27 lbs and should get out in 2015
