Yay! I was one of those who watched V when it first came on and lost interest and stopped watching. After it came back after being off the air for awhile, I decided to try again. I'm so glad I did because whatever they decided to change or do the show is now really good and keeps getting better every week. Now I can't wait to watch it every week. I'm so happy ABC is giving V another chance.

Part of the reason for the good premiere was the DWTS lead-in. Numbers dropped off after that (mid to low 3s), then picked up again over the last several weeks. The high viewership numbers for the premiere are precisely because DWTS delivered it an older audience.

It's really interesting that Idol is losing in some key demos now, like with men 18-34 to Modern Family, a show that doesn't exactly scream young-male audience. Sofia Vergara, perhaps? Anyway, with Simon not on board next season, I truly believe that it's going that this is the last season that Idol will dominate the ratings.

Very happy with Modern Family's performance, a series high! When it premiered with 4.2, it had around 12 million viewers now it can achieved 4s with just 10 million viewers. I can't wait for next season :)

I also read Steve Levitan's tweet that it also beat American Idol in M18-34, just wow!

Steady numbers for CT and The Middle.
Too bad for Old Christine likely series finale, it did not get even a 2.0 :(
  • chef91
nope MF had 4.2 and CT had 4.4 lol
  • My records have MF premire with a 4.2 rating. That jibes with last week and this week's PR from ABC.
  • I thought modern family had a 4.4 in the premier?
  • chef91
wow awesome news for MF. i'm really hoping for/feeling good about a 4.5 next week for the finale

It'll be interesting to see Modern Family's fall ratings. There has got to be a number of people watching AI that will then watch MF in the fall.

Nice to see Cougar Town actually adjusted up! Usually it's the other way. I hope that show can catch on a bit more in the future.
  • Indeed!

past history? as opposed to future history or present history? ;)

"Cougar Town" has been seeing quite the drop-off from "Modern Family" lately. Bill or Robert- how much of a gain is the second half hour of "Idol" seeing from the first half hour?
  • Centauri
True. I honestly don't watch the show but I did notice it was a much closer ratings battle between the two in the fall. So as you say, it must be good buzz upping MF's rating as opposed to Idol taking some of Minds' audience as I initially expected.
  • Modern Family is a keeper. If past history is a guide, sophomore shows have the potential to increase their ratings. Shows in their sixth season typically do not.

Modern Family is waxing the floor with Criminal Minds. Wonder if it'll continue in the fall.

So Old Christine I believe matched last week's ratings. Too bad - I guess some shows really don't go out with a bang.

I had no idea Happy Town was gonna be such a disaster. I knew it wasn't gonna make it, but daaayum!

Great for Modern Family hitting highs!

The "Idol" results show edges "Dancing with the Stars" for No. 1 overall this week. When's the last time ABC had a so-so-performing show Wednesday at 10 p.m.? (not counting news shows) "Happy Town" is making "Ugly Betty's" numbers seem pretty good. lol

"Minute to Win it's" numbers look OK- is that its highest yet?
  • Doug_B
MF is going to hit 5's this fall and ABC finally has something to cheer about.
  • marcelrochester
Wow Modern Family is smashing, especially noteworthy given how many series lately have been hitting season/series-lows. I think this is actually ABC's top show of this week. With Lost & Dancing performances both at 4.1.

Top Model was between The Hills & The City this week in young women.

Idol Wed again has more viewers but slightly lower 18-49 than Tuesday.

Excellent for Modern Family!! Its good that 1 show I watch gets excellent ratings.
  • New series high for MF.
