FSU not a preseason top-25 team?

Not according to Lindy's, which recently released its preseason Top 25. Here's how the ACC stacked up in the magazine, which does not publish online:

No. 8 Virginia Tech
No. 13 North Carolina
No. 17 Georgia Tech
No. 20 Miami

This is the first poll I've seen in which the Seminoles are missing. While the I'll-believe-it-when-I-see-it mentality is understandable, considering the staff changes and improvements needed on defense, it's hard to overlook the amount of talent Florida State returns on offense.

That group has progressed under Jimbo Fisher and should be even better this season with an offensive line that returns all five starters. There should be enough talent on both sides of the ball for Florida State to start -- and end -- the season as one of the top-25 teams in the country. UNC is obviously getting a significant amount of credit for its defense in this poll. That same line of thinking should lend some credit to Florida State's offense.
