Despite all of Russell Hantz's efforts, Sandra Diaz-Twine won the title of "Sole Survivor" in the 20th season of Survivor, Heroes versus Villains.
Sandra was determined to get rid of Russell during the season, but she was never successful.
"He wants the title of 'Sole Survivor.' If that's what Russell wants, that's what I've got to make sure Russell doesn't get," she said.
Sandra was on the Villains team and has played Survivor once before. She was also the winner of that season, despite the fact she has never won a challenge on the show.
Russell said the fact Sandra could win twice, while he has never won, proved there is a flaw with the show.
"America needs to have a percentage of the votes," said Russell, who played two Survivors back to back.
Russell did win an audience-voted prize worth $100,000.
The finale began with five survivors left: Colby Donaldson, (the last of the heroes), Sandra, Parvati Shallow, Russell and Jerri Manthey. Parvati won the first immunity challenge, which was a plate-balancing act, and Colby was sent home.
Until that point, Colby was the lone remaining hero after Rupert Boneham was sent home last week when Sandra played her hidden immunity idol.
The second immunity challenge was a blind-fold maze challenge, and Russell won it. Jerri paid the price, and was the next survivor sent home.
During the final tribal council, Russell was the target of much derision.
"To be a manipulative, deceiving, lying person is very easy and you took the easy way out," Rupert told Russell, adding that Russell had nothing to be proud of in his game.
The 21st season of Survivor will air this fall, and will be filmed in Nicaragua.
