WARSAW, Poland, May 20 (UPI) -- No. 1 seed Caroline Wozniacki withdrew from her quarterfinal match Thursday at the Warsaw Open, citing an ankle injury.

Wozniacki had lost the opening set to No. 5 seed Zheng Jie when she retired. The 2009 U.S. Open runner-up will be among the favorites for the upcoming French Open.

Zheng will meet Greta Arn in Friday's semifinals. Arm surprised sixth-seeded Alona Bondarenko 5-7, 6-4, 6-4.

The other semifinal will send third-seeded Li Na against reigning champion Alexandra Dulgheru.

Li breezed past Sara Errani 6-2, 6-1 and Dulgheru defeated qualifier Tsvetana Pironkova 6-4, 7-5.
