Villa will head for Portugal to compete in the Guadiana Cup against former European Cup winners Benfica and Feyenoord.

The pre-season tournament is set to be played in Vila Real de San Antonio in the Eastern Algarve.

It takes place over three days between July 30 and August 1 in the 11,000 capacity San Antonio Stadium.

Portuguese giants Benfica kick off the competition against Feyenoord on July 30, with Villa's participation beginning the following day against the Dutch team.

On Sunday August 1, Villa take on Benfica in their second match. All games kick off at 9.15pm.

The tournament location is on the border with Spain and is around 30 minutes from Faro Airport.

Benfica, the current Portuguese champions, are coached by Jorge Jesus and boast the likes of former Barcelona striker Javier Saviola and highly-rated Argentina midfielder Angel Di Maria in their ranks.

The Lisbon-based club are a huge name in European football, having won their domestic league 32 times, as well as two European Cup triumphs in the 1960s.

Feyenoord, European Champions in 1970 and two-time UEFA Cup winners, finished fourth in Holland's Eredivisie last season.

Their squad includes former Newcastle and AC Milan striker Jon Dahl Tomasson.
