Eagles Release Durant Brooks
May 25, 2010 | Last Updated: 5/25/10 5:07 PM ET | Comments (0)

Punter Durant Brooks was released by the Eagles on Tuesday.

A former Ray Guy (top college punter) award winner and a draft pick of the Redskins in 2008, Brooks was signed earlier this off-season to compete with Sav Rocca for the punter job.

Brooks was in training camp with the Packers in 2009 and was in line to potentially win the punter job, but was hampered by a nagging hip injury.

The Eagles added Ken Parrish prior to the start of the post-draft mini-camp. Parrish battled Rocca in training camp last year and also has the ability to be a kickoff specialist.

Rocca has set the single-season franchise record for net punting average in back-to-back seasons.
