Max Jean-Gilles Signs One-Year Deal

April 15, 2010 | Last Updated: 4/15/10 12:39 PM ET | Comments (1)

Offensive lineman Max Jean-Gilles, a restricted free agent, has signed a one-year deal with the Eagles, agreeing to his tender offer.
Jean-Gilles, a fourth-round pick in the 2006 NFL draft, was tendered at the original-round level. The interior lineman started six games at right guard for the Eagles in 2009, including the playoffs, and played in 14 games total. He started 10 games in 2008.
At 6-foot-3, 358 pounds, Jean-Gilles provides formidable depth for the Eagles' interior line, and he figures to compete for the starting right guard spot with Stacy Andrews going into the 2010 season.

Today is the deadline for other teams to make contract offers to restricted free agents. With Jean-Gilles signed on, the only remaining unsigned restricted free agent for the Eagles is punter Sav Rocca, who was given the right of first refusal tender. The Philadelphia Daily News recently reported that Rocca's agent said that Rocca will sign his tender when he returns to Philadelphia from his home in Australia.

I was actually hoping that someone would have put in a claim for MJG and we ould have got another 4th round pick out of this draft. MJG is a dependable B/U that is all. Hopefully we can move him during the draft either for a 5th/6th round pick or use him in a package to move up in the early rounds.
