Question: I just watched the first seven minutes of the Grey’s Anatomy finale on Hulu. I hope you alert everyone because, as I’m sure you’ve seen, it is very disturbing/shocking! —Elizabeth
Ausiello:
News flash: If you thought the first seven minutes were disturbing/shocking, I strongly suggest you skip the remaining 78-odd minutes. Some seriously dark and depressing s**t goes down in that hospital, and it’s not for the faint of heart. Fun fact: Something big happens in the second hour that doesn’t fit into any of the categories in my May Sweeps Scorecard.

Question: Is the Grey’s Anatomy finale truly going to be epic, or is the hype a bit exaggerated? —Dana
Ausiello:
Based on what I’ve seen (the first hour) and heard (much of the second), it’s no exaggeration.

Question: Got any Smallville season 10 scoop? —Matt

Question: I can’t go another week without getting some Dexter season 5 scoopage! —Maria
Ausiello:
Your timing is impeccable, Maria. As luck would have it, I can’t go another week without giving you some Dexter season 5 scoopage. You’re never going to believe who ends up caring for Dexter’s three motherless children. Go ahead, hazard a guess. Dex’s in-laws, you say? Wrong! It’s Deb! New showrunner Chip Johannessen tells me that in the wake of Rita’s brutal slaying, Dex turns to his sister (played by Michael C. Hall’s real-life bride, Jennifer Carpenter) to help care for the kids. And if that’s not problematic enough, all five of them will move into Dex’s old (and rather teensy) apartment! “It’s partially funny and partially not,” says Johannessen. “Deb is not exactly the most maternal person. Nobody quite knows what they’re doing, so there’s a certain kind of struggle to cope.” (For more scoop on Dexter‘s fifth season — bowing in September — pick up the new issue of Entertainment Weekly.) Question: In honor of Neil Patrick Harris being cast in the Smurfs movie, you should give us some big scoop. It’s what the Smurfs would want. —Riina
Ausiello:
Actually, I just conducted a straw poll in Smurf Village and turns out what the Smurfs really wanted was me, not NPH. All kidding aside, I really did conduct a poll. And I won. By a landslide. Seriously. Moving on… here’s your big scoop: My magazine column is movin’ on up to the News & Notes section beginning with this week’s issue (on sale Friday). Someone please start a congratulatory thread in the comments section so I don’t have to.

Question: What’s going on with Katherine Heigl? Is she ever going to be returning to Grey’s Anatomy? —Hannah
Ausiello:
Last I heard, she’s due back on the Grey’s set at the end of the month, which means we probably won’t see Izzie again until late April. Coincidentally, that’s right around the time a very special patient will be checking into Seattle Grace: Alex’s brother! Sources confirm to me exclusively that Grey’s is currently casting the role of Karev’s estranged sibling. For those keeping score at home, this will be our first time meeting a member of Karev’s troubled clan. Look for bro to dredge up a lot of ugly family history, including that nasty business about daddy beating mommy.

Question: What’s up with the Mercy West residents on Grey’s Anatomy? Will they be sticking around next season? —PT
Ausiello:
I’m fairly certain one of them won’t be. A reliable source tells me that one of the four has received his/her walking papers and will exit the show before the end of the season. Guesses? Scroll down to the comments! (Read full post)

Question: Thanks for all the True Blood casting news! Do you have any other scoop on season 3? –JKH
Ausiello:
It’s happening: Lafayette is getting a boyfriend! A True insider tells me that Alan Ball is quietly searching for a sexy Latino actor in his 30s to play a lust interest for everyone’s favorite same-gender-lovin’ blood dealer. (Over the summer, Ball confirmed that viewers would see a more “vulnerable” Lafayette in season 3.) Got casting tips? Head to the comments! Here’s one to get you started: Um, Adam Rodriguez, hello.

Exclusive: USA renews 'Burn Notice' for fourth season

Categories: Burn Notice, News

This was pretty much a no-brainer: USA Network has renewed Burn Notice for a fourth season, sources confirm to me exclusively.

A report that BN had been picked up appeared in the trades last July, but a USA insider says the season 4 deal only became official yesterday.

The smash hit is slated to return with the second half of its third season in January. The 16-episode fourth season would likely debut next summer.

The news comes a day after USA picked up Psych for a fifth season.
