Ask Ausiello: Spoilers on 'Smallville,' 'Good Wife,' 'Glee,' 'Grey's,' Fringe,' and more!

Question: Will anything ever happen between Will and Alicia on The Good Wife? —Stef
Ausiello:
Maybe. Eventually. Perhaps. Exec producer Robert King explains: “[They have] one of the most complicated relationships… because it really is a friendship that doesn’t want to lose its friendship by going to the next step. There’s an episode [coming up in April] that’s all about not knowing what a jury is thinking and it’s a metaphor for how Alicia and Will can’t get into each other’s heads. During this trial, they have to make moves, guessing where the jury is headed. Sometimes we see that they’re just completely wrong.”

Question: I could probably be persuaded to send you a case of your favorite flavor of Snapple if you’ll give me some Good Wife scoop. —Brooke
Ausiello:
I could probably be persuaded to accept those terms. The rivalry between Alicia and Cary will come to a head in May. According to exec producer Robert King, the season will feature two big climaxes — one of which we’ve already witnessed. “The first was ‘Hi,’ the episode where Peter gets out,” he explains. “[The second] will play into [the rivalry].” (Read full post)

Press Tour Scoop: 'The Office,' 'Heroes,' 'Law & Order,' and more!

Here are the major highlights from NBC’s just-concluded executive session at Winter Press Tour that don’t involve the words Leno or O’Brien (although if those are the words you’re looking for, click here)…

* Howie Mandel will replace David Hasselhoff on America’s Got Talent.

* Among the pilots NBC has ordered (some of this you already know): A remake of the UK crime drama Prime Suspect, a Rockford Files update from House creator David Shore, the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced action procedural Chase, the David E. Kelley legal drama Kindreds, and the romantic comedy Love Bites from Sex and the City writer Cindy Chupack. (Read full post)

Question: It’s great to see Jesse Spencer getting a powerful storyline on House. Any news on how he’ll cope without Cameron? —Angela
Ausiello:
Not well. In the Nov. 23 episode — the first sans Jennifer Morrison as Cameron — he loses it and punches House in the face! “Chase is very clearly off his game,” says a House insider, “and struggling with the loss of Cameron.” What prompts the fisticuffs? Apparently, Doc Crankypants unfavorably compares him to his far prettier, smarter wife, and Chase blows his top and decks him!

Question: Jesse Spencer has been amazing in the current arc on House, but I’m worried this storyline is setting up his eventual exit from the show a la Jennifer Morrison. Any word from your mole? —Carol
Ausiello:
My mole assures me that you’re just being paranoid. Jesse’s staying put. (For now at least.) (Read full post)

Question: Is it at all possible that Shonda Rhimes would bring Isaiah Washington back to Grey’s Anatomy for even one episode now that T.R. Knight has left the show? —Ben
Ausiello:
Listen to me very carefully, because I’m only going to say this once: Never. Gonna. Happen. But Washington kinda-sorta gets a shout-out in this week’s episode when Owen-lovin’ Cristina utters three shocking words: “I miss Burke.”

Question: Sounds like you’ve already seen this week’s Grey’s, so I’ve got a Q: Any good Mer-Der scenes? —Megan
Ausiello:
Nothing stands out on the Mer-Der front, but there’s a memorable Mer-Cristina-Alex scene at the end that will have you crying and laughing (and in that order).

Question: Any Grey’s scoop? —Sharon
Ausiello:
You already know that someone gets fired in this week’s episode. But what you may not know is that someone gets fired next week, too!

Question: Julie Benz just Twittered a photo of a guy she says will be part of a big reveal in the Dexter season finale. What can you tell us about this? —Matt
Ausiello:
Here’s what I can tell you: If this guy is who I think he is, fans are not going to be happy.

Question: Jenny is so boring on Gossip Girl. Please tell me she will become mean. —Juliana
Ausiello:
Mean enough to drive her BFF away. I hear Jenny and Eric’s relationship will suffer big time due to her new “Queen Bee” status. (Read full post)

'Southland' star on show's axing: 'I'm pissed off'

Categories: News, Southland

Michael-Cudlitz-Southland_lStill scratching your head over NBC’s bizarre decision to renew Southland only to cancel it five months later before a single season 2 episode had aired? You’re not alone. Michael Cudlitz, who plays gay officer John Cooper on the acclaimed drama, is still reeling from the news. In this exclusive Q&A, the actor explains why he’s “pissed off,” weighs in on the show’s chances of finding a new home, and offers a message to shell-shocked fans.

When did you find out?
MICHAEL CUDLITZ:
[Exec producers] Ann Biderman and Christopher Chulack came to the set yesterday and announced it to the cast and crew.

What was your reaction? Did you see it coming?
CUDLITZ:
In retrospect, I saw it coming. We were two weeks away from airing and [the cancellation news] has created more press for the show than NBC has put into it on its own. They ran the first [Southland] ad — a 30-second spot — last Friday, and that’s the only one that they ran. That’s not a relaunch. When you have a network that nobody’s watching, it doesn’t benefit you to only advertise on your network. (Read full post)

Question: Any more True Blood season 3 casting news? —Richard
Ausiello:
Yes! Alan Ball confirms that he’s currently casting the role of Talbot, “trophy husband” to Denis O’Hare’s same-gender-lovin’ King of Mississippi.

Question: I know I’ve been bombarding you with Heather Locklear questions lately, and I promise to stop after this one: How long will she be staying on Melrose Place? —Sam
Ausiello:
There’s no such thing as too many Heather Locklear questions when it concerns her imminent return to the Place called M. I hear she’s on board for at least seven episodes.

Question: I just finished watching the first three seasons of Dexter and I can’t wait until the season 4 premiere. If you have a scoop, that would be awesome. And if you have more than one scoop — or a scoop-fest, if you will — that would be even more awesome. —Jared
Ausiello:
To quote my onetime Ausiello TV co-star Ana Ortiz, “Oh, I will, honey. You bet your ass I will.” John Lithgow’s Trinity Killer will claim a high-profile victim (a.k.a. significant character) during the first half of the season. (Read full post)

Some good news for 'Chuck' fans (and non-fans)

Categories: Chuck, News, Southland

No, the show’s tentative March premiere hasn’t been moved up. Not yet anyway. But sources confirm to me exclusively that NBC will begin streaming old episodes of Chuck on NBC.com this Monday. The move will give new and lapsed viewers a chance to play catch-up prior to the launch of the show’s third season. Episodes being streamed include the Chuck pilot and the entire second season (rolled out five episodes at a time).

And wait, there’s more… (Read full post)

Breaking: NBC delays 'Southland'

Categories: Fall TV, Southland

southland_lAn NBC spokesperson is confirming what was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter: Southland‘s second season has been pushed back a month, from Sept. 25 to Oct. 23.

Dateline NBC will air Fridays at 9 pm in the interim.

A Peacock insider says moving the show away from the ultra-competitive premiere week, where it would have gone head-to-head with Dollhouse and Medium, guarantees that Southland will get the best launch possible. It will also give NBC four more weeks to promote the critical fave.

I’m usually suspicious about last-minute scheduling shifts, but this one kind of makes sense. What do you think?
