Hello my name is Neil Fingleton and welcome to my site. I was officially recognized by the Guinness World Records in January 2007 as the
United Kingdom’s tallest living man. I was born and raised in
Durham, England which has a population of about 40,000. Durham is located in the North East of England near
I was born on the 18th of December 1980. Ever since I can remember I have always been extremely tall for my age. By the time I got to secondary school I was over 7 foot at the age of 11. By the time I was 14 I was 7’5 inches and was in just about every national newspaper in the
UK. I finally stopped growing at the age of 18 peaking at 7ft 7.56in (232.5m). There are over 64 million people living in the United Kingdom and I happen to be the tallest, My great grandfather was 6’8, my mother is 6’0 which is rather tall for a women and my father was 6’0. Usually if someone has brothers or sisters who have acromegaly, there is a massive difference in height but that is not the case in my family. I am 7ft 7.56in and now weigh 24 stone (336Lbs, 152kgs), my brother Michael is 6’8 and my sister Keely is 6’3. I have always loved playing sports. I used to play a lot of football when I was growing up and did not really get into basketball until the age of 13.
I was originally asked by my P.E teacher at Gilesgate to come and play for the school’s basketball team, but did not really know anything about the game. I began going down at lunch times playing with the other players and before I knew it I was hooked. I began playing for the school team and started playing local league around
Durham. I secured a scholarship to attend a very competitive high school in the Worcester,
Ma, USA where I ended up living for almost 10 years.
After my career in the USA, I floated around
Europe for 3 years. I played in the UK, Spain, Italy and
Greece before retiring in 2007 after continuous injury problems. I am now currently living back in
Durham and concentrating on acting and promotional work. I graduated from a top U.S college with a degree in history and a concentration in African American history and have had the chance to travel the world, and guess what? The best stuff still yet to come!
