The Eagles have added local boy Ryan Hamilton to their safety corps, added him on Thursday morning. Hamilton, a graduate of Council Rock North High School, returns to the area after playing collegiately at Vanderbilt. Hamilton started 34 straight games there until suffering a chest (pectoral) injury two games into the 2009 season, and he missed the remainder of the campaign.
He was signed by the Saints following the draft, but then was waived earlier this week. The Eagles are now giving Hamilton a chance to join the tail end of this rookies and selected veterans camp and will keep him around for a while to take a look.
Hamilton is 6 feet 2, 210 pounds and he recorded 222 total tackles in his Vanderbilt career. At Council Rock North, Hamilton started for two years and was an all-state and all-area performer.
The Eagles also announced that they have hired Daniel Jeremiah as a West Coast area scout. A former scout for the Cleveland Browns (2007-08) and Baltimore Ravens (2003-06), Jeremiah was a starting quarterback for Appalachian State for three years (1998-2000) after transferring from Northeast Louisiana (1996-97). He graduated from Appalachian State with a degree in broadcast management and marketing and worked as a production assistant for ESPN's Sunday Night Football from 2001-02 prior to joining the Ravens.
