Sentinel Records to close
Since its foundation in August 2000 it has mostly been a story of onwards and upwards for Sentinel Records

Having started out releasing compilations of the best of Irish metal, it soon grew into a label in its own right, then a mail order service and in 2004 after launching an online store, Sentinel Records the shop opened its doors on 4 Upper Fownes St., Temple Bar.

Unfortunately, news has come that Sentinel Records, like so many stores in recent years has become victim to the increasingly difficult music retail sector. The shop is due to close its doors for regular business on June 30, but plans to keep a service going in the form of regular Record fares at the same location.

The label and mail order services are hoped to continue in some form. A Sentinel spokesperson says: "It’s been a financial nightmare from the very start and the growing debts have become too much to handle."
