A white rhinoceros skeleton was placed in the rhinoceros exhibit.  The display was created in an effort to increase the public awareness of the devastating effects poaching had on the white rhino population.  Also in 1989, Old Style Zoo Terrace, a landscaped picnic area, was built.  A $250,000 donation by G. Heilmann Brewing Company funded this construction.
