Slick is located about half way between Beggs and Bristow along Highway 16.
The town is probably named after the wildcatter Tom Slick, although there was so much oil produced there in the early boom days that the name just as easily could have come from all the spilled oil that overflowed into the creek bottoms.
The land around Slick is pretty. There are many beautiful places to live in the area, even among the few old tank batteries and pump jacks that remain from this early-day oil field.
Because of the abundant creek bottoms around Slck, the land in the area is very fertile for horses and cattle as well as for pecan trees and vineyards.
