Birds of Tokyo Perth show review

IF there is one thing Birds of Tokyo fans have come to expect it's a great live show, and last night at Metro City the band did not disappoint.
Aptly supported by the enjoyable Timothy Nelson and Infidels from Perth and the popular New Zealand group Midnight Youth, Birds packed the venue. Returning to Perth for the last gig of their Saddest Thing I Know tour, the boys took the stage to rapturous applause.
Their set opened with their latest single, putting the crowd into a buzz that the band maintained throughout their whole show. Fans were treated to tracks from earlier albums, such as Wayside and a rocking rendition of White Witch.
The audience scored a sneak preview of a few tracks from the boys latest album, due to be released July 23. If the tracks featured during the gig are anything to go by the new album should prove to be an exciting new direction for Birds of Tokyo, while still having that great vibe that fans have come to enjoy.
Ian Kenny proved once again that he has one of the most powerful voices in Australian music right now, even if Metro's sound system seemed to struggle to cope at points. With a massive crowd of fans singing along with every word however, I doubt anyone would have noticed.
Have your say
