All year I've been telling you to take my suggestions with a grain of salt because "inside" access doesn't create a magic ability to predict the outcome of a tournament.

Until Pride of Georgia on Clarks Hill Lake a few weeks ago, that grain of salt was more like a salt lick because things really weren't going my way. After a solid finish on Clarks Hill, my team blew up on Kentucky Lake, with three anglers in the top five.

The difference between the last two derbies and the first seven (counting the Classic) is that both Kentucky Lake and Clarks Hill had a long and consistent history in terms of results. The same guys finished well year after year.

As of Tuesday morning, the rest of this column cleverly and confidently featured a group of river rats that followed the same consistency theory and would have absolutely killed on the Arkansas River. Now that floods have moved the Sooner Run to Fort Gibson Lake, this column should make about as much sense as a postgame interview with Ron Artest.

BASS has never been to Fort Gibson, so history is taking us nowhere. Typically in this situation, I would cry a little and start Googling angler's hometowns to see who lives closest to the body of water, but there are a couple other factors involved here that can't be ignored. … MORE
