Computer-based training, which has served Carolina in its current form since June 2005, will cease service on Saturday, Feb. 28 when its current license expires. According to Charles "Charlie" Green, assistant vice chancellor for teaching and learning, the decision not to renew the license was a difficult one.

"Computer-based training was a valuable service that contributed to the IT learning and development of the Carolina community," said Green. "The decision not to renew the license for this service was necessary in order to achieve the level of budget cuts currently mandated."

Other resources that may be accessible on a no-cost or low cost basis are now being researched and information about alternative IT learning opportunities will be made available on the LearnIT Website in the near future.

"The service will continue to be available for the next few weeks and I encourage everyone to carry on accessing computer-based training until the end of this month," said Green.
