Outpour from Attabad lake increasing

ISLAMABAD: The incoming water in Attabad Lake has risen to 3,000 cusecs, whereas the outpouring from spillways has reached to 1,000 cusecs recorded.

According to a private television channel quoting official sources, the water discharge from Attabad Lake's spillway has increased from 650 cusecs to 1,000 cusecs, whereas the water leakage level reached 350 cusecs.

The melting of glaciers pushed up the water level in the lake consistently and incoming of water has risen up to 3,000 cusecs.

During the last 24 hours, water level in the lake has risen to two feet.

On the other hand, due to the continuous increase in the water level, 60 more houses in Gulmat and Shahskat have been inundated and water entered a worship place (Jamaat Khana) in Gulmat.

Separately, Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Syed Mehdi Shah announced a relief package for the effectives of upper areas of Hunza and announced free distribution of flour and fees to students of schools and colleges from the government funds. — APP
