I am one proud papa tonight.
Zachary has been taking piano lessons since he was five years old. It took him a while to get going, but he has steadily improved over the years. Like his mom and dad, he has a natural love for music.
This past year, I have noticed a marked difference in his playing. I am very impressed with the skill he has developed since turning twelve!
Tonight was his piano recital, held by his instructor, Janna O' Connor. He and sixteen other students each had the opportunity to play two pieces which they had preselected. Zachary had done two recitals before. Both times he performed quite well, but he still made a couple errors (which is quite common at these things). He was very nervous about the recital, so we prayed about it and I told him just to have fun.
Zach was to be #13 on the agenda tonight, so he had plenty of time to listen to the other children play their pieces (and plenty of time to get more nervous!) As to be expected, the kids all did great, but each one had obvious difficulties with their pieces in one or more areas.
When it came to be Zach's turn, he stood, introduced himself and the names of the pieces he was to play, and he sat at the piano and began.

He blew EVERYONE away, present company included! He conducted himself like a true professional and his playing was practically flawless. His pieces were longer than some of the others, but the audience didn't seem to mind. When he was finished, you could feel how delighted everyone was at his performance. And he was glad that it was over!
If he wants to, Zach can go a long way with his musical talent. Since I never learned to play the piano, I am vicariously enjoying the progress he is making. But whether or not he continues to master the instrument, I am very proud of my son. He is a GREAT kid!
Psssst... happy you-know-what to you today ;-) (the 5th)
Hi Joel, Tried to view your son's piano recital but got the following message: "You've encountered error message C00D11CD while using Windows Media Player." Several questions arise, have you encountered this error before? Is there something I can do to clear it up? Is the problem in my computer? I believe you are definitely more computer savvy than I am and would appreciate your help. My wife is a piano & voice teacher and recitals are close to our hearts . . . ears . . . whatever! Thanks!
Sorry to say, I have not encountered this error before. Can you try from another machine?
