I have been following Rob Conery for some time now, I guess since the Commerce Starter Kit days, and it has been fun watching the “rising star”. Rob blogs with passion, and not to bite from Jean-Paul Boodhoo, “develop’s with passion”. I have, as most of us have, been running at a full sprint attempting to keep up with the evolution of .NET and feel like I have been constantly struggling to stay atop of it all. One thing that has helped of course over the last few years is reading blogs.

I have a rather large list of blogs I keep up with and use Google Reader. Amazing people like Jeff Atwood, Phil Haak, Jeremy D. Miller, Matt Berseth, Omar Al Zabir, many of the folks over at www.CodeBetter.com, just to name a few. Of course the list goes way on…

If you are hopping on the .NET 3.5 bus later than sooner, I highly recommend checking out Rob Conery’s MVC Storefront living development series. Rob has done a superb job of taking a project and developing it in a public forum using the new MS MVC patterns for ASP.NET. Rob has took his own knowledge and consulted many specialists through the life cycle of the project (like Ayende), logging his interactions and experiences in podcasts and video series interviews from start to current design. Through watching this progression my eyes have been opened and schooled in many new ideas and patterns. The simple learning experience in picking up C# 3.0 features like Lambda’s, Extension Methods, and Linq to SQL, has been revolutionary to my views and understanding of .NET.

This is all not to mention Inversion of Control (IoC), Dependency Injection (DI) and Jermey D. Miller’s StructureMap. Or even Domain Driven Design… Some concepts and patterns which, if implemented properly will save you time and probably money as well, not to mention the cool kick ass feeling when it all works and the beauty becomes crystal!

If really want to see where the ASP.NET technology is at, and where we’re all going check out Rob’s MVC Storefront series, I highly recommend it!!! Big up’s to Rob and all who played a role!
