What really helps me is my commitment to my lifetime goal, which is: to improve the longevity of the quality and quantity of my life. While I'm still young (23) I want to begin eating healthy so that by the time I'm in my 80's and 90's, I feel and look like I'm in my 40's or 50's.
There seems to be no evidence that pizza is a "bad" food, anyway. Overindulgence in pizza is bad, yes. But a tax on pizza is not sensible. It is a farse.
As far as soda, I think it should NOT be taxed on principle. But it is a useless American addiction. Even diet soda is demonstrably bad for people. I'd like to see it removed from America personally.
I want to make sure the "best" body that I'm aiming for isn't too unrealistic. Here's a quick history of myself and my stats:
I've had a relatively slim, athletic body (I was a big-time athlete in HS and still worked out and played club sports in college) my entire life until I graduated from college and came home in '08. Depression (from living at home again) set in and I gained 40 lbs, and I also gained about 20 lbs my Sr. year in college from working at a restaurant - but I still looked good. J I'm over my depression now and am ready to take back control. The only thing currently hold me back is my left leg, which I broke on New Years Eve (broke my fibula in ½ about 3-4" above my ankle, severely damaged the ligament holding my 2 bones together, and fractured the back of my tibia. I still have swelling and some edema (edema only if I walk for too long) but started PT about 2 weeks ago. Right now, I'm only allowed to bike and walk for no more than 15-20 min. and I lift weights (upper body) almost everyday. I tried to swim and use the Elliptical again but my ankle was still giving out. I haven't been able to lose weight while crippled but I haven't put on any weight either — not even a lb. Some random facts that might help: I think I have a "small bone structure" b/c my wrists are pretty small, my shoulders aren't that wide, and my hip bones are pretty narrow, although you would never know that since my stomach and spare tire are where I put on most of the weight. I also don't build muscle that easily (I tend to remain lean), I'm very well-endowed on top (I only mention this so you don't think I was a twig), I've been 160 lbs. for most of my life and ultimately I'd like to be 140. The way I see it is, I want to do the work now and get it over w/, as tough as it's going to be, so I can enjoy the best time of my life — my 20's! And sorry if that was TMI but I hope all of that helps. J Thanks so much!
Stats:
Age: 24
Gender: female
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 235 lbs.
Body fat %: 33.7%
Waist size: 50" (that might be incorrect seeing as how I measured myself at work w/ strips of paper taped together. I'm about a size 18-20 in pants.)

I also want to let you know about our Caregiving group, it is a great place to get ideas on dealing with those we care for in our lives. (Changing my 74 year old mother's diet has been an incredibly challenging journey-but fruitful!)
203 lbs after I only lost 10 lbs and I had to lose the rest alone with no bread, nothing process,no suger, using herbs instead of salt and I swear that alone without working out(feeding a newborn every 2-3 hrs) made me lose more weight.
I am now 170 lbs..I know that i can do it so can anyone else.I eat fruits and veggies and no meat..I tried tofu and is great.you lose the craving after 5 days since, first 2 are hard.I WILL start working out sometime in july 1st since,my baby now eats every 3-4hrs..I wish I had a nanny or else I would be in gym 2 hrs a day.morning and night.
I want to lose weight normally with no diet pills.I am doing wii for 1 hr a day(ddr) dancing and boxing games I see myself more tone.I am not doing wii fit..not into stupid yoga.and if I have 20 mins do turbo workout.the only thing I can say..time is a factor..but if you have the push you can do it..Don't give up..I don't drink...drunks are in mi famila lol.I say lay of the beer and mix in some vodka has less calories with diet pepsi.google low calorie alchol drinks..will find ton of stuff.
drink green tea..that is helping cleaning my insides..I am going number 2 alot its amazing..aim for 3 cups a day and move up to 5.
email me if you need a push in right direction.
Sorry for the intrusion, but I am facing a problem losing weight and I would be grateful if I can get some help from you.
I used to be healthy a couple of years ago but unfortunately I suffered depression and anxiety which had me gaining 80lb over my original weight. This all Caused that I go all the way down from hyper athlete to super lethargic.
As I am healing now and being in an advanced stage of depression free life I am finding it darn difficult to start over again through all this mess and actually don't know from where to start.
I'm 5.6", 256lb, and my body fat is somewhere over 39%. Wish you can help.
Thanx in advance
If you eat junk before you go to bed, the refined sugars cause a rise in insulin which ultimately crashes leaving you with an insatiable appetite for more junk. Refined sugar begets refined sugar. High fat foods are often associated with refined sugar (ice cream, candy, cookies, cake).
If you've binged the night before, eat a healthy breakfast and just stay clean for the rest of the day. It takes 24 hours of clean eating to fully regroup after overeating the night before.
Hope this helps. Good luck! Dr. Peeke

I agree that reducing or eliminating junk food is a key to losing weight for many people. Some people do just eat too much non-junk food though.

I'm happy to see that the newer shapewear looks so much better than the older models, which screamed "girdle or corset" in the boring nudes and old fashioned styles. Most of the celebrities, especially singers in skimpy getups, wear them. They usually don't roll up so long as you're fitted correctly.
