Takeover Roc Nation is a joint venture between Jay-Z’s firm Roc Nation and Stryder’s management company Takeover.

It will handle the stars’ merchandise and tours as well as signing new acts.

Stryder said: “Jay-Z is my music and business inspiration and to go into business with him is a dream come true.”

How Jay-Z Became King: Inside the New Rolling Stone Issue

He’s had more Number One albums than Elvis Presley. He hangs with Barack Obama at the White House. And he’s riding high after leaving his longtime label Def Jam to work a $150 million deal with Live Nation, delivering some of his best live performances ever. At the age of 40, Jay-Z qualifies as an elder statesman of hip-hop, a fact that’s more remarkable considering other rap peers have hung up the mike to pursue careers in Hollywood. So how does he run the game?In the latest issue of Rolling Stone, contributing editor Mark Binelli goes one-on-one with the New York legend, watching Jay-Z try on a new suit in his sprawling Manhattan office and tagging along to the Four Seasons, where the rapper goofs by mispronouncing actor Kelsey Grammer’s name at a watch auction (after calling the Frasier star “Chelsea,” he asks Binelli how to spell “faux pas”). It seems the man who made his name rhyming about hustling and hos in Brooklyn’s Marcy Projects is actually more comfortable around an unlikely new crowd: indie rockers. “I love the energy coming out indie rock right now,” he says, name-checking Grizzly Bear. “It has this rebellion thing that hip-hop is missing now, the thing that made hip-hop hip-hop.”

LeBron James coming to the New Jersey Nets? Jay-Z says he’ll let the King decide for himself

Posted in Articles, Interview, Quotes on June 6, 2010 by Miss JayZfans

NYDAILY: Jay-Z swears it’s true: He has no blueprint for bringing his pal LeBron James to the Nets. “That’s his decision,” the hip-hop mogul, who owns a piece of the Brooklyn-bound hoopsters, tells “Rolling Stone.”

”We’re friends – we’ve still gotta hang out! I don’t want to convince somebody to do something, then have to see him and say, ‘Uh, yeah, we’re 4-30 …sorry.’” Recruiting the NBA’s reigning two-time MVP is instead up to new Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov – and Jay-Z thinks the deep-pocketed Russian is up to the task.

The pair first met at the posh Four Seasons hotel in midtown Manhattan, and the rapper recalls he was duly impressed by the multibillionaire oligarch. “I’d been staying there for 10 years, and I always thought I was at the top level,” Jay-Z said.

“But when I met Prokhorov, they took me up to this extra, extra room that I had never even heard of before. “Now there’s something else to shoot for. There’s always an extra level you don’t know about.”

Speaking of extra levels – the June 24 issue featuring the interview also includes a first-of-its-kind peel-off front cover – with a second Jay-Z photo underneath.

MTV: In his massive hit “Empire State of Mind,” Jay-Z raps that he’s “the new Sinatra.” And it turns out he wasn’t joking.

During Saturday’s 142nd running of the Belmont Stakes, “Empire” will be played as the horses are brought out onto the race track, replacing Sinatra’s classic “New York, New York,” according to a spokesperson for the New York Racing Association.

“[It's] the quintessential 21st century theme song for New York City,” an NYRA official told The Associated Press.

A spokesperson for the NYRA confirmed the change to MTV News.
