New Music: Kid Cudi feat. Kanye West “Erase Me” (radio rip)

Mikey: Word is Cudi dropped this off to DJ E-V from WAKS 96.5 Kiss FM in Cleveland. Sounds like a hit to me, on Top 40 at least. (Props to Sonic)

Miss Info: This totally came out of nowhere, pleasant surprise though. The audio is hilarious, like the most underwhelming introduction of a massive exclusive I’ve ever heard. This is a big scoop, man! LOL. I agree with Mikey though, this is straight pop-rocks. (thank you Sonic for sending this along! And shout to DJ EV for the exclusive)

Related News: Big Sean announced on Twitter that his album, Kanye’s album, and Kid Cudi’s album are all dropping on September 14. Consequence says his release is on the 14th too. So its officially G.O.O.D. Music day.

(Trey Songz and his mom at the Atlantic Records post-BET Awards party)

Trey Songz called into Atlanta’s Ryan Cameron and Elle Duncan at V103 (thanks Marsha/V103) to discuss the BET Awards. He said he didn’t think Chris Brown’s onstage breakdown was contrived. Then when asked about his date to the BET Awards and if the rumors are true that he’s been dating Lauren London for the past 6 months, Trey said:

“I brought my mama to the BET awards, everybody knows that. She was a trending topic. My mama shut it down, my mama killed the awards more than I did….I have known Lauren for a long time and she’s a good friend, but are we dating? No. I’m a single man.”

I’m so mad I forgot to DVR the new Louie show from longtime Chris Rock collaborator, Louie C.K. But thankfully, here’s all the stand-up segments in one clip.
During Louie’s riff about the inevitable misery of love and bringing home a puppy, I was crying and laughing at the same time. So wrong! Also….this guy’s right, why the hell have we not improved milk cartons!? (spotted at Videogum, via Vulture)

…and then she’s gonna die. That’s the best case scenario, is that you’re gonna lose your best friend, and then walk home from D’Agostino’s with heavy bags everyday and wait for your turn to be nothing also. Nothing good ends well. It like when you bring home a puppy, you’re bringing it home to your family, like, ‘Hey look everyone, we’re all gonna cry soon! Countdown to sorrow with a puppy!‘”

Joell Ortiz brings out Fat Joe to perform Big Pun’s “Twinz/Deep Cover 98″ (via Waterfall)

Jay Electronica performing “The Ghost of Christopher Wallace” (w/ intro) [via I.F.]

Mikey: So while I was being a SCHELP and sleeping my life away, all the homies were at the Highline enjoying what looks and sounds like was an incredible show by Joell Ortiz & Jay Electronica. Shouts to the fam over at Onsmash for putting this one together. (who’s that shadowy Asian figure twittering in the background?)

MissInfo: wait, there’s no way I’m on camera, I was on the side of the stage w/ flats on, barely able to see! But yes, Mikey lost : ( The show was amazing! Much family in the place, much great music. Joell Ortiz brought out Joe Budden, Fat Joe, Sean Paul (with mega-gelled mohawk), Styles P (love him), and Jim Jones (ditto). Wowza, yowza, yaowa! It was like a SummerJam of keep-it-real-rap, lol. Then Jay Electronica did his one-man monologue/performance in his gym-slides (LOL!); giving away his shades for a blunt, his watch for nothing, and then diving into the crowd for “Exhibit C.” (much love to Hof, Peter Rosenberg & Cipha Sounds (who hosted), Yandy, Angela and Deirdre) Check out these photos from Mel D. Cole/VillageSlum….

PS: If Summerjam has the infamous “screen,” then OS shows have the entitled close-minded boo-birds. Last time my boy OJ caught it, this time Big K.R.I.T. did. But later on, Jay Electronica said, “You New York crowds are the toughest…but you did [Krit] a favor. That’s the same reception y’all gave me a year ago at the Nokia, and look where I am now.” [UPDATE: WhatWeTalkinBout has footage of Krit's reaction]

New Music: Big Boi ft. Yelawolf “You Ain’t No DJ” (prod. by Andre 3000)

Mikey: No download link but just be greatful. You can stream the rest of Big Boi’s The Son of Chico Dusty on his Myspace. People still use that site? (Props Meka)

Mikey: Here’s a better quality clip of Ms. Hill performing “Lost Ones” over Timb & Drizzy’s “Say Something” instrumental at this year’s Harmony Festival in CA. It’s crazy to hear L Boogs goin’ in over that beat. Please God, let Lauryn release some new music this year. (Props HardknockTV)

Previously: Lauryn Hill speaks on leaving the music industry: “The support system that I needed was not necessarily in place”

Recovery

Mikey: The numbers are in and they don’t lie. Eminem’s Recovery has sold 741,000 units in its first week according to Nielsen SoundScan. This marks Em’s 6th consecutive number 1 album on the Billboard charts. 255,000 of those albums sold came digitally. Congrats Marshall!

“That’s the second-biggest digital week for an album in history. Only Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends” notched a larger frame, when it debuted with 288,000 downloads in the summer of 2008.” - Billboard
