Platini revives idea of FA Cup winners in Champions League
Michel Platini, the Uefa president, has relaunched the prospect of FA Cup winners qualifying for the Champions League. Platini first launched a proposal for domestic cup winners to take a qualifying slot two years ago but was forced to withdraw it after opposition from the European leagues.

Didier Drogba's 37th goal of the season won the FA Cup yesterday on a historic afternoon when Chelsea completed their first Double, Ashley Cole won his sixth Cup medal (a new record) and two players – Frank Lampard and Portsmouth's Kevin-Prince Boateng – failed from the penalty spot. Perhaps most remarkably of all, an eventful final was still goalless after a first half in which Chelsea struck the bar or post five times.
